Just adopted a 8mo Dogo from a shelter. My only chance at owning one with how much it costs to get one from a breeder.

He's relatively 'timid' aka all I was given as his temperment from shelter. He is very hard headed I can tell, speaks minimal Spanish (zero English), playful which my 10yo male excites and 10yo f pisses off. Both fixed.

My 10yo f has been the alpha with the male jumping on other dogs to defend in the past. Some is him, some is my assumption all will get along. I know there is an obvious long row to hoe teaching the Dogo the ways of our family etc. Any training pointers would be GREATLY appreciated.

I spent 2yrs fighting the 10yo m until we finally started seeing eye to eye and now all is well. Just don't want to do that again if I don't have to.

    Thanks in advance.

I'd back up your older dogs... step in so they don't have to be the major disciplinarians in the house (that could get ugly, especially if the male decides to take action)... once the newness and puppyness wears off, things might be less polite from the female, too.

I'd get the Dogo into some obedience classes with YOU, so you two can bond and learn to communicate, and then he'd look to you for guidance at home, instead of the older dogs (who's patience may be wearing thing by now).

I'd love to see a video of your Dogo "speaking Spanish".... that sounds like quite the feat! :)

Thanks for the advice. Ive been stepping in when needed and reading the older ones for the younger. Also been doing 'doses' of puppy time not just all day.

As for the speaking, it's the weirdest thing, he won't do it in front of a camera but I'll keep trying
