  • Hi Everyone. The Fila we wanted was sold. So my wife and kids outnumbered me 3-1...we adopted a English Mastiff. She's wonderful. Today was her 1st day with us. I great up with dogs and have owned them my whole life, but not since I've gotten married and started a family. My daughter, Paisley, broke out into severe red rashes all ovr her body, neck, ears, and face...eyes swelled up and turned red...she got very nasally and was coughing...I was scared. Gave her some benadryl and a bath...she's fine now. It's evident she's allergic to dogs. She sure is a lover of our new dog, and the new dog LOVES her. Anyone ever have anything like this happen? Tomorrow we'll see the doc for Paisley to see if having a dog is a bad idea. So unfortunate to deprive my kids of the greatest animal family member...hope we can figure out a way.
Hi Everyone...my name is Jimmy....I owned a Fila about 15 years ago...great dog...I am married now with 2 kids (3 and 4). I am extremely familiar with the breed and understand its' hatred of strangers...my question is this: we will be having more children....I know the Fila will love and protect my family with his/her life...but will he/her accept our new baby every couple years...we have our next due in October. I assume with the right introductions the answer is "no problem, he/she will accept the new addtion." But everything I read tells me that after 2 years, the Fil will only tolerate the ones he/she knows, while anyone new will be considered a stranger. Anyone have any experience/insight on this one...I want this breed again, but thought might be smarter to go with English...also, I remember my Fila boy was a bit loud when I'd leave the house, and or any time he heard something...don't want to anger the neighbors if he/she will be overly lous all the time. Thanks!!!
