Hello, my name is Harry Robinson and I am from San Clemente, CA. I am new in this forum site and want to share and increase my knowledge about how to help lost pets around the world. I have heard about such kind of unique id that are provided for pet’s identification and really help us when they lost. Hi. Im surprised no one replied. I live in UK, by law we get a chip inserted in neck with id number. Once scanned pet is returned to address on chip. Simple. Have no clue how to rehome a pet without this.

The microchip is available at any Vets office in Canada and for a small fee the animal will be chipped, and registered. If they are ever picked up by a rescue/humane society or are presented at a Vet's office for treatment, and the chip is checked (which is supposed to be an obligation), then they can be identified and returned to their owner. Many pets make their way home this way. However, it is not mandatory in Canada, it is by choice, and if I say so myself, a very good choice.

I too thought that chips would be very common in both cats and dogs. It‘s very minimally invasive, relatively cheap, and provides easy and standardized identification. In addition, it‘s probably a good idea to use an engraved/printed tag listing contact/owner details. They sell those that can be customized through Amazon at a very low cost in decent quality.
