Does your dog have Nightmares?

Does your dog have nightmares?
I can only assume that my dogs do have nightmares.
The dogs will be sound asleep and start moving their legs, whining, crying and growling.
If these are indeed nightmares I wonder what they would be dreaming about. Both of my dogs have lived a pretty plush life and have never been abused in any way, my 3 year old Zoey has had a bad experiance when she had an Addisone episode and almost died, but the 7 month old pup Abby has never had anything unusual or traumatic happen to her.
I think maybe she is dreaming that there will be no more food coming out of the magic cold box inthe kitchen :)
What do you think your dogs have nightmares about?

I don't know if they are having nightmares but i always belive they are dreaming, when my dogs seem to be running on their sleep i always think they are chasing squirrels.

Most of the time when they are dreaming it seems as if they are being hunters or wolves, as both dogs will howl in their sleep. There are times when they wake up panicked however and those I'm sure are nightmares, no idea what they are about however.

My boy has some primal dreams as well. He's straight up spooked me F out a few times with his rendetion of a howl while sleeping in my bedroom. Like the hair on the back of my neck stood up. Super creepy. lol

All our previous dogs (big mixed mutts) have done the 'chasing rabbits' dreams, but Denna (our first full mastiff) is the most vocal... she's howled a couple times in her sleep. It's hilarious! We let her keep dreaming, assuming she'll eventually catch the offender and deal with them appropriately.

The only time we'll wake her up, is if we're all on the bed together, and she starts kicking us too hard. :)

I'm going to have to try meowing at her next time... that's too cute.

Same here as rest current pup. Barks, sideways runs, whines, growls.
Don't think nightmares, just dreaming.

Well I never really hear or see Corelina having dreams or nightmares, I sometimes hear Titan let out a little whine or what sounds like a faint bark, but one thing is for sure...they both poot in their sleep!!!! LOL

My pup Bruno has dreams. He moves his feet, lightly barks and whines, and make sucking sounds with his mouth. Its funny but I wake him up if he seems to into it.

yes, & Tessa is VERY vocal as well. Sometimes it saddens me a lot because it is clear they are nightmares.

This morning, however, was NOT a nightmare--it was a happy dream--1st time I've seen this happen!
I kept hearing a thump thump thump faster & faster, thought someone was at my door--and there she was, on the livingroom floor, with her tail going berserk-I had not idea she could also wiggle her tail in an almost circle like that & smack it off the floor without waking up.

Both dogs dream all the time, and they can be really vocal in them but they seem more like chase games since their feet move. Odin also has suckling dreams since he just left his mother a few weeks ago. You'll hear little sucking noises coming from across the room now and then.
