What vacuum do you use?

Late to reply but I just bought my second Dyson yesterday, will never go with another vacuum. My other one is eight years old and works just fine but the wand was too short for to use on hardwood without bending over and killing my back, so I got the one that has the cannister you pull behind you. REALLY wish I had seen this topic yesterday because I was going to get the animal one but husband thought it would just blow the dirt around on the hard floors which we're currently putting in. But I have to say I do like the one I got as well.

I've been through two Dysons. When the second one broke, our local vacuum repair person recommended a Sebo. It is way better. Ugly, but built like a tank, and I love the way the wand works.

Anyway, I would at least go to a real vacuum store and see what they have. I had never heard of Sebo before. If it ever breaks, I would get another one.

Thank you. I am looking at Daysons. I've never heard of a sebo and I'm not sure there is a vacuum store anywhere near me.

I have two Dyson's, the larger plug in one, and the cordless. Love them. Two dogs, a super shedding lab and a 7 month old Neo. Two guys who don't ever wipe their feet and me.

With 3 dogs and 2 kids I vacuum sometimes 2-4 Times a day. I need a vacuum that can hold up and last me a few years. I've had a few that say for pets but sucks. I have a shark and I've already replaced it once and looks like I'm in need of another one. Is there actually a vacuum out there that is worth it when it comes to pet hair? It would be amazing If I could find one that is worth it and can keep up with the demand of my family.

A Dyson Animal is the only way to go. Best investment I ever made and it even comes with doggie attachments for the baby who loves to be vacuumed. It's a little bit more than what most people want to spend but they come on sale all the time. With 3 large breeds and broadloom I could never live without it!

Its not bagless, but the Miele vacs are the only ones proven in studies to have true HEPA filtration. That means that your vacuum won't be spewing dander and dust mites back into the air while you're vacuuming. There aren't any bagless vacs at the moment that will do that. Asthma doctors recommend the Miele vacs to people with severe asthma and pet/environmental allergies.

I had a Dyson and loved it. Then we bought a Rainbow because it was asthma/allergy certified. It also does not expel any odor when using it. There is no dust or filters to change. It uses water in a tank where the dirt, hair and dust collect. When not used as a vacuum, it works as an air filter system that has been so beneficial for my allergies. It is expensive but worth every penny. I have an amazing vacuum cleaner/air filter all in one. It was about $2500.00. I loved the Dyson but I am in LOVE with the Rainbow.

I use a shopvac too & some cheap upright with a beater bar.

I'd use shopvac only, but it does not have the beater brush/beater bar--though recently I see shop-vac does carry an air driven beater brush--but previous experience with the air driven brushes showed me they were pretty worthless, as they stop turning at the lightest pressure--maybe with more HP in a shop vac (hp depends on model), the beater brush would work?
Also read some other types/brands of air driven brushes can be used on shop-vacs so I might give it a try.

If I could solve the beater brush/beater bar issue & find one that actually does work well--I would just stay with shop vac.
You can add extra filters, including hepa, use bags, not use bags, do wet or dry & they are nearly indestructible.
I've used them to blow leaves, unclog drains...

Buy the one with higher hp--like the 6.5

XBF killed one of my shop vacs--he did not put any filters & proceeded to suck up an entire basement & crawl space full of spiderwebs. So, after years of sucking up heavy construction stuff, aside from fur & everything else, XBF killed it in 1/2 hour-totally locked up the engine & burnt it out. Spider webs are actually stronger than steel & sticky to boot--not to mention they have some creepy creatures living in them.
I pitched a fit & made him replace it on principal of stupidity.
He then bought me a Ridgid brand, said it was better-It is NOT-I HATED that thing-it was difficult to use & switch out parts, even hard to add an extension to the hoses--stay far awat from the Ridgid.
The suction wasn't good & also the wheels marked my floors with black lines, which made me have to scrub them off.
So, if you are thinking shop vac--get the actual Shop Vac brand, or a craftsman brand.

Had an Oreck for years, but I was tired of buying bags and there are no attachments for this type of vacuum. So I got the Dyson Animal DC41 and I LOVE it. The suction is crazy. I used my Oreck first on the carpet, then the Dyson, and I COULD NOT BELIEVE what still came up. It was gross actually. The only negative is it is heavy, but it's worth it. I love all the attachments too. I got mine from QVC, and I think it's on clearance now. It was nice because I was able to pay it over a 5 month period by using Easy Pay that they offer.

Grrrr---Tessa killed my cheap upright (a bissel powerforce bagless)--I took it apart to clean it & she destroyed a few parts & shredded the filters while they were drying. I *might* be able to get replacement parts online--so this thread may have come at a good time.

I still have the shop vac, but I need something with a beater bar for my rugs. I prefer a vac with a power beater bar, not air driven-meaning there is a power cord to the beater bar-I'd like it to be a canister vac on wheels.
Been looking at the Shark Rotator lift away.

Suggestions?

Shark Navigator Pro with liftoff. Sealed container very versatile with great tools and performance on floors as well as carpet. Easy to clean as well. Google reviews.

We have a Dyson DC25 animal and the Dyson DC41 animal complete.

Absolutely love them! Only real difference I can tell is the 41 has a larger canister, a free floating head to automatically adjust for different floor surfaces, and a redesigned furniture attachment head.

Both of mine work great on carpet, hard wood and tile floor.

(I have 2 EM's for the record).
