What do you guys think? My dog has for the last 2 days been having the squirts. I have been feeding her Merrick Grain free for a couple of weeks now, but she doesn't like it just dry so for about 2 weeks I have been mixing it with the wet Merrick grain free and she loves it. But I have recently been giving her mixed flavors of the wet with the regular dry. I don't know if she doesn't agree with the mixture or did she eat some of those red berries from this damn holly Tree all the way over on the other side of my yard. I monitor her going over that way but I don't know if my brother does when he comes over and takes her out sometimes. And she just got her rabies and final shots Saturday but today he told me she messed in her cage which she has never done. What do you guys think....Im stuck. Oh yea she turns 4 months in 2 weeks

Most likely the food, is not agreeing, you would notice the berries in the poop, if that was it, and if you have not checked the stool, do so. Berry seeds or pits, do not digest well. So should be noticeable if that is it.

I checked in the stool. Haven't seen any berries. Thanks i guess i will just stick with one type of food see if that clears it up

I would suggest doing a system reset with rice and boiled hamburger or chicken for a few days.

Then put back on kiddle.

Are the squirts the only symptoms?
Energy levels OK?
Eating same as before (with/without gusto?)
A stool sample check might be worth it (no vet appt. needed, just the lab work)

If you think it might be tied to the wet food, you could try leaving that off (after the burger/rice reset) and just wet the food with water (or top with a few tablespoons of the burger/rice mix), see if that's enough to make it interesting.

I've heard that you can mix flavors in the same brand (wet/dry/either), so I wouldn't think that's it... but maybe she's sensitive to one of the wet ingredients?

You can also boil chicken or turkey. White rice is better than brown rice for this purpose of resetting the system.

I took cocoa to the vet the took a stool sample no parasites. Everything looks good the vet said maybe a bacteria infection gave her a shot and some pills. Antibiotics. And he said feed her some cottage cheese or yogurt every day.

Why did he prescribe antibiotics without a definite diagnosis? Antibiotics wreck havoc on the dog's digestive system. He did give some good advice to add cottage cheese or plain yogurt to the food every day which acts like a probiotic that helps digestive system with the antibiotics.

Was it metronidazole?

I don't understand why he would prescribe amoxi. Metronidazole I can understand but it seems unnecessary to prescribe amoxi in this situation

I agree. Vets tend to overprescribe antibiotics when it's not necessary, just like our doctors who overprescribe antibiotics.

And over perscribing antibiotics is becoming an issue in the world because now bacteria are becoming immune to it
