Just venting

So today I got called cruel and inhumane for having katos ears and tail done. A lady came up and said I should be ashamed of myself for putting him through pain. I told her we got them done at an AAHA accredited hospital with a great vet and he was on pain medicine. I wanted to explain that he didn't even notice, a few hours after the procedure he was running through the yard with his toys like a maniac. It just really bothered me how ridiculous people can be. Sorry for my rant. Anyone with similar experience?

When anybody ever says anything about my girls ears i always ask if there husband or son is circumsized and they go away.

I know it hurts.

But please don't let them get to you. It is a personal choice, and is not inhumane in any way IMO. To me it is no different than deciding to circumcise your son or pierce your daughters ears.

My family raised, trained, and showed Dobes for years and we use to get it all the time. And we have owned Rotts for over 20 years.

It is a personal choice, done properly and at the proper time, it is relatively painless.

Personally, I love the big ears and the long tail, but any dog is lovable, and there are times that that tail beats me black and blue, still, I love every inch of it.

All the time but I apparently have this look according to people who have been with me during these interludes, that pretty much burns them to dust. They all it my neuc look :) Scott gets the same one when he has pushed me too far and we are in polite company or in front of the kids.

Also known as the "Corso Stare". My dogs and wife have also mastered it. LOL

Respond w/the history of the breed and the reason behind why it was done. Most folks believe it is simply for appearance. I understand that doesn't bode well for the PITA types but there's not much arguing with it.

I understand. I've been recently having to explain why I love the look of a cropped & docked Corso to friends & family members when I talk about getting one. I'm almost half tempted to just say, because I do so shut up. Lol ;)

I haven't had experience with the anti crop/dock people as neither of my guys have those but I have run into people that feel the need to tell me that I'm being irresponsible for not neutering Kryten. The most recent was being incredibly rude about it so I just asked her if he was her dog. When she answered no I told her then she should shut up and mind her own business. The irony was Kryten was ignoring her "responsibly neutered" dog who was showing more aggression than my "vicious" intact dog.
Just to prove that there are people with extreme opinions on all sides of every issue I once had a woman threaten to call animal services on me due the inhumane treatment Jiggers had received. Her problem? I had neutered him so she was unable to use him as a stud dog for her bitch.
I've found that the best response to people who feel the need to speak up on what they believe other dog owners have done incorrectly is to ignore them and to let the comments go through me instead sticking.

YES!!! People have made me feel like a monster!!!! But I've had the same experience, my pup stayed overnight for hers and the next day she was her normal self with 0 restrictions, nothing like the hell that was her knee surgery, eye surgery, spay and turmor removal. And I have seen first hand when I use to help out my breeder, I went to pick up his puppies from ear crop, they were completetly normal the same day!!! No whining no pain, just wanted to play like always.

We used to get it when we had rotties. when a man came upto me and said how cruel it was to cut off his tail i looked down at his massively overweight labrador and said your the cruel one your dog is struggling to walk. Now its banned in the uk those tails are a menace the dogs get them caught.we took our litters to be done a small whine then back to normal.Problem is some byb still try doing it themselves due to the ban which is totally wrong.

Tell them to fuck off!
It is a breed standard and a personal choice.
I chose not to have my dogs ears clipped, but their tails are cropped, it was my choice and if someone doesnt like it they can pound sand.

To put it bluntly...Yes I agree! Why even explain...just tell them to F off! If they are rude enough to come to you and point out that out then why should you show them any respect back. Tell them to report you to the doggie abuse hotline is they are so worried about it them...

Thank you guys for the support. He is so spoiled I have no idea how people could say we are cruel to him. We had a dane that needed 3 surgeries because of happy tail before it was docked at 3 years old. I'm also getting the why isn't he neutered speech because he is 10 months and they are noticeable lol.
