I'm not saying not to get one because they are great dogs but be ready, have a fenced yard, have a safe room or escape proof crate that you can put him in if you have visitors. Understand that this is not a dog that you take to petsmart. A Fila with proper temp. should hate all people except for his immediate family(those that live with him), that does not mean aunt Debbie that comes over once a month or your kids friends.

Please wait to get a Fila until you have a very safe way to contain your Fila, at least a 6 ft fence. Fila are not known to go chasing people but if they approach you or your property there could be problems. My Fila have been the best dogs I have ever owed but I will not be getting another one. It is a lot of responsibility and you better be a top notch trainer to be able to handle these guys. I thought I was but I soon learned I didn't have the skills or the personality to safely control these dogs. At about 9 mos. my male dove through the window by the front door to try and get the neighbor who had knocked on the door. We caught him by the hind legs and were able to pull him back in but....

Good Morning, I am new to this forum and wanted to introduce myself to everyone. My wife and bought a Cane Corso pup 3 weeks ago. We love him so much they are a unique breed of dog. I am looking forward to gettting to know other Mastiff owners also. Hopefully I will have pics soon.
