Woman on NYC Train Continued to Push Dog

I'm surprised nobody has any opinion on this. I was curious what people would do if someone was actively pushing or hitting your dog and you were in a confined place like a train such as this.
I actually feel bad for this guy caught in the middle of this nonsense. I think the commy state of NY will likely prosecute him as whatever should happen the opposite usually does these days. Very unfortunate.

I couldn't get the video to pull up on my phone. So I could only read the article. But from what the article said, the dog wasn't allowed on the train. So the owner was at fault for bringing the dog on the train. But it takes a pretty stupid person to push around on a pitbull. So I think she provoked the dog. So the only one who was just going there job was probably the dog. He felt the need to defend his owner. If it were me, I would have just got up and moved

I think anyone with a good mind would move, however a NYC train is usually unmovable and packed. I did not read where the dog was not allowed on the train so that changes things a little, unless it was a service dog and yes even a service dog has a right to defend itself from someone striking it imo.

Here are my thoughts.
100% the owners fault!
Folks this is one version of the Stereotypical American "Pet Bull" owner in a nut shell.
- Thats not the full video. I think I saw a longer version on World Star Hip Hop the other day
-The owner showed 0 responsibility or credibility by bringing a pitbull on a crowded subway. Fail right there
- Its not allowed so that further shows how wrong and irresponsible the owner is.
- The owner had no clue how to get his dog to release. Also, had no tools to do so or get the dog under control. Again and again the owner shows how clueless and irresponsible he is.
-More people cared about getting the dog to release than he did. Smh. Hes lucky somebody didnt stab or break his dogs bones.
- At the end of the video I saw this idiot violently throw the shoe at the women's face after the attack was over.

I hope they put him under the jail. Probably caused his dog to get killed too.

I just read it. I think I would want to hurt the person who shoved my dog but then again it seems that his violence towards the woman escalated toward the woman hitting him and that is what set the dog off (understandably). Legally it sounds like there is a lot of fault to go around here (except for the dog who behaved exactly as it should have). It also sounds like if the dog only bit her shoe then there shouldn't be any injury there. The dog was extremely restrained if that is all it went after. That sounds more like a warning to me.

I didn't see the video but ya not being able to get his dog to release is a huge fault, bringing a dog on a crowded train where it isn't legally allowed to go is also a fault. I would be tempted to kill anyone who touched my dog without permission though so I can understand him lashing out at the woman... not saying that is the correct way to respond at all especially since it all made the situation worse. But honestly I become a little bit rabid towards anyone who harms anyone I love (dogs included) and I would take shoving as a threat and harm. I am definitely the most volatile and dangerous animal in my household. :p

According to the article the dog was in her personal space and was touching her. She made several comments to the ower about it.
Everyone isn't a dog or animal lover. If somebody doesn't want to be touched by a strange dog in a place where dogs are not allowed that person should have that right.

This is the exact reasons dogs aren't allowed there. This is also the exact reason why there are unjust BSLs.

I agree 100% with everything Justin B said. Did the woman react in the wisest way? No, she didn't. Still, the dog shouldn't have been there in the first place. I'm pretty sure it wasn't a service dog, so it wasn't exempt from the no dogs rule. It's a shame that the dog will likely pay the price for the owner's negligence.

What is a BSL?

I do agree it was a shame. However we do not know if this was or was not a service dog. The dog was actually very restrained until it was hit first. Should a service dog have the right to protect itself or should it just accept getting hit by a stranger? The reason I think it might have been a service dog is because I am from NY and to go on the train usually the ticket folks will not allow it to begin with. It is not easy to sneak a dog on a train without credentials.

It mentioned the dog was in a crate but kept getting out. I don't think a service dog would be in a crate.

I also dont think a real service dog would have the temperament to bite and hold like that.

Its so hard to imagine a lady attacking an unruly Pitbull or the Pitbull's owner first.

I was only guessing because I too am not sure of the exact particulars. It does suck that this probably nice dog will pay the price. I thought it may be a service dog because it was not trained to recall and I don't think any service dogs are as they are not trained to bite. So unfortunately this dog was defending itself which sucks as it has no rights to do so.

Don't you find it odd the dog went for the foot?

I will keep an eye on this case and see what happens when they find this guy and the dog. I just hope the dog remains safe.

I live in New Jersey, You are not allowed to bring a dog on a train unless it is a service dog. Don't believe everything you see or read.

Honestly its hard to imagine anyone dumb enough to hit or shove any large dog they don't know. The situation could have been so much worse for her if that was a reactive dog.

Also I am not familiar with NY but how do you take a crate big enough for a pitbull onto a train? I wouldn't think that would be an easy thing to pull off or even possible. I can't imagine trying to wrangle one of our crates onto a train. And if the dog was escaping the crate that would mean the owner didn't bother latching it or something. So many very weird things about the story.

Oh and by the way, that is exactly what happen to the service dog on the delta flight imo. The dog hating human was antagonizing the dog the entire flight may or may not have nudged or pushed the dog. In this case it states the lady actually hit it and the dog still didn't attack, he only attacked when she hit him. Who are these people to just hit dogs or other people? Not right.

Not really odd to me. There is no vid that shows the intial confrontation. So its too hard for me to speculate.

They are 2 totally different isolated incidents not related.
I cant skip over the fact that its not right to bring a Pitbull with signs of aggression to a No Dogs Allowed area. Then allow your dog to make contact with somebody who has expressed they want no part of it.
Maybe she was shooing the dog away. What she did is speculation. Also seemed like everyone on the train was on her side.

Like I said, I live in New Jersey, only an hour away from NYC, you are not allowed to bring a dog on a train unless it is a service dog and don't believe everything you hear, see, or read. Alot happens in NYC.
