Beds - what does your dog sleep on

I have a double king bed for the dogs and I to sleep in but I have a couple big barker beds and the dogs love them!! They are a bit pricey but in my opinion, well worth it! The first one I bought more than three years ago and it hasn't given an inch and the cover is washable and easy on and off and both dogs love them!! The have a 10 year guarantee and they don't smoosh down at all even when both dogs are on them together.

Kris - Angus would love it!!

For those of you that have the couch style beds - how firm are they? Foam or pillow like stuffing. How have they held up to being laundered?

Haven't had to wash it as we only got them for Christmas. the "frame is quite firm but not hard and the center section is pillow like.

Also, the big barker is soft as it is an orthopedic style "mattress" but isn't hasn't changed a bit since I bought it.

We gave Denna our hand-me-down; a queen sized memory foam mattress... the cheap one is on sale at Costco for $400 right now. We got about a year's worth of sleeping in it first, but it gave me a back ache. We took the recip saw to it and cut it down a little to fit the living room better - and we also got a cushion for the back seat of the truck for her out of the deal, too. :) :) :)

I did have to sew a cover for both of them... that didn't take much time (but it did take a LOT of fabric).

Denna splits time between that mattress, the costco bumper-bed up in the bedroom, the lovesak (foam bean bag, she often has to share this with a human), the couch, and at night the big bed curled up with the humans.

Here's a pic of our poor, neglected, abused dog... on the loveSak, with her bed at her feet, and a couch (covered for her enjoyment) at her head.... poor thing. I feel so sorry for her some days. :p
Yes, our living room is one big dog bed. HA!

Personally, I think cinder would be happy with anything microfiber with a kid blanket or 2...

This is her on the lounger part of our sectional....

I love this forum! You all make me feel normal that dogs and dog bed have taken over someone else's house too! We currently have a dog bed of some sort in just about every room of the house - sadly even our master bath because we contain our boxer in there at night. With that said all 3 are trained to go to a bed as their "place". Purpose of trying to find a new bed that is big enough for him to sprawl on and stop the repeated checking to see if he can get one of us to let him up on our bed in pity during the night. He does go lay back down when told too - I'm just tired of getting that big head in my face repeatedly during the night.

Angus isn't a blanket dog, our other 2 are. So hoping to find something that doesn't make him too warm. Dog loves to lay outside in 30 degree rainy weather - does not bother him at all. Anything above 75 and he's sprawled on top the floor vents hogging the AC.

Here's Dozer on his 6' bean bag (his preferred sleeping/relaxing spot):

And here he is on a twin mattress:

And he has a bed in the bathroom as well that he doesn't fit on entirely. The twin mattress has a cooling pad between the mattress and fitted sheet, because like Angus, he is most comfortable when it's cold!

Awwwww Dozer dude looks so comfy! I hadn't thought of a cooler pad to add in. Does it actually work?

Yes, the cooling pad does work--even under the sheet. It gets warm after a few hours of laying on it, but if he gets up and spins around and lays down again, it goes right back to being cool. The largest size is too small for his entire body, but he's ok just having his part of his body on it.

Tali also loves human beds and literally digs up and eats the dog ones.

Ditto!!!
I sometimes feel like an under-achiever in comparison to some of you with 3+ big dogs in the house... :)

:) She is so funny! The furniture is nice, isn't it?

It was my parents suite originally. It was bought for them for crazy cheap at an auction when they were broke newlyweds in the late 50s when everyone was getting rid of their old style stuff for cheap. Now that my dad is in a personal care home he has to have a medical bed, and this one is too small for two big people and a dogue or two...so off to the lake it went.

Well, we took the plunge and ordered a Big Barker XL. Should be here next week. Just couldn't find a way to make the Giant size fit in our bedroom and still have room for people. Shocking that humans would want to be able to maneuver around their bed.
