Bullmastiff Breeders

Hey, so first post but I've lurked this site for a few months unregistered. My wife and I have been debating Rottweiler vs. English Mastiff vs. Bullmastiff vs. German Shepherd and we've finally decided for sure that the Bullmastiff is the breed for us. I'm currently in NC, but moving to MD in the next 2-3 months. We'll be looking for a solid Bullmastiff breeder to purchase a pup from. However, I don't want to buy from a puppy mill or backyard breeder. Unfortunately, I don't know enough about dog breeding to know a reputable breeder when I see one. Can anyone recommend a breeder on the Eastern Coast ? I don't mind a road trip.

Good choice. ;)
I'll see what I can dig up for you tomorrow.

Oh, and welcome to the board!

I don't know anything about them, but be advised that a 1yr health guarantee means basically nothing. None of the genetic health problems (ie: hip dysplasia) are likely to be found before the age of 2.

Also none of their dogs are listed on the OFA site as having had any health testing.

what i always do is look that they do all the health checks. Hip photo's Ellbow and heart. If they do that then i look on the site or ask for photo's of there dogs so you can see if you like the type they breed. And then i make a appointment so i can talk with the people and see the temprament of the dogs.

Just checking back in to see if anyone has any recommendations :) From Maryland, I'd go as far as WV,PA,North Carolina, NY, NJ/Delaware if one came highly recommended.

Twice... lol
I just sent a message to some people I know who might know of some quality breeders over there.

Hey, Thank you for the response. I wouldn't have known about them otherwise, as they don't show up on immediate google searches :) Hopefully, I'll be the proud new owner of a bully relatively soon.

I suggest you check out Tru Grit Bullmastiffs in Wilson, North Carolina. We got our bullmastiff from this breeder in March. I think they have a litter on the way also. Good luck....

I would start your own thread so more people see it, especially where you're looking for a breeder in a different location than the original poster.
