15 Mile walk this weekend - what would you bring with you?

Hi guys - my hubby and I are doing a 15 mile walk on Saturday for a cardiac charity and we are taking Bear and Mooshi. I took Moo on a 10.5 mile walk a couple of weekends ago so I know she will do 15 easily but I was wondering what you would take with you? Water will be available at check points, I am going to bring poo bags obviously and some biscuits, the terrain will be varied between paths and fields and the dogs will be on lead the whole time. So other than the above is there anything else you would recommend for a hike of this distance 'just in case'? I am asking for the dogs sakes, not the humans.

Also if we need to turn back for whatever reason we can call it a day at one of the check points and they will drive us back to our car.

I will trim nails the night before as well and we will have towels to dry them off when we get back to the car, its forecast rain this weekend...but then again its the UK, when does it not rain?

How exciting!!! I would love to do something like that. Ruger on the other and is not cut out for 3 miles (as a rule) so there would be no 15.....LOL.

Donno what temps are like there, but Pedialite or some sports drinks are often safe to give to dogs (often diluted with water) and help keep them from dehydrating in warmer weather. There's a couple threads on it up in health (started by Jcook I think for hiking).

Ruger is built for comfort not for speed is what you are saying Kris? LOL. I think my two are pretty much used to long walks, we built them up slowly but now they are good to go. When Moo did her 10.5 mile test run with me the other week she came home full of energy and could have done it again no problem. Me...I needed a nap! Saying that I took her on a play date last Sunday and she barely made it through the door before zonking out.

Yep and spare collar too. We took out two camping a couple of years ago and I took a spare collar...my husband thought I was an idiot until Mooshi snapped hers. Funny, now he is a fan of bringing spare collars with us.

lol! I was debating adding a spare collar to that list but thought you might think that overboard! Definetly! I actually keep a martingale style slip collar/lead in the emergency kit in my car so that if I'm ever out with Apollo and have collar/leash issues I have a spare.

lol! I told hubby I was going to put together a proper first aid kit for all of us (instead of random bits and peices scattered around the house, which is what we have now). I'm pretty sure he thought I just meant him and me.....

I have a bag that stays in my truck for "just in case" with Ruger. I just realized, however, I do not a first aid kit for humans. LOL

I have in his bag:

A leash
A collar
treats (I trade them out on occasion)
a couple bowls
bottled water
a couple of toys
Two slim jims (Long story)
A few decent drool rags
and a container with enough dog food for two meals

I bet the just in case bag for yourself doesnt even contain a change of underwear does it Kris? Oh no, we would sooner survive on an old chocolate bat that we find stuffed between the seats than see our beloved babies go without a single thing. We're nuts, all of us. But I wouldnt change it for the world!
