Zyrtec

My vet told me to give my corso Zyrtec to help keep her allergies down. Has anyone else done this!

Yep I use it, only use the standard one, I give hank 1 tablet per day when he needs it, inside of a fish oil tablet. He thinks its a treat, he will eat fish oil tablet like candy. FYI use a sharp knife and cut a slit in one end of fish oil tablet, then push zyrtec tablet inside.

I've never heard of giving Zyrtec. Most vets I've worked with recommend giving benadryl.

It's used when/if Benadryl fails. Dr Karen Becker rec its

This is good to know. I have been wondering. When you say regular you mean not the Non Drowsy stuff right? How about fastmelt tabs?

Correct - don't get the one that makes u drowsy.

Not sure about fastmelt. But a generic of zyrtec will be ok as long as the active ingredient is Cetirizine and the same dose.

Actually I am using the regular type for the dogs now and it makes Jade a little sleepy which is fine considering I need her more relaxed with her lamness issue. I can't tell the difference with the other 2 dogs.

It made hank a little drowsy at first but now it doesn't seem to effect him.
