  • Welcome back!

We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

Yep, A Fila.....

I believe it was 25 dogs. 3 failed analysis due to multiple faults and we got one outstanding in temperament (rare to get one). Oh and they had a show recently in czech republic, 35 or 37 dogs shown w/ about 9 disqualifications. I'm not quite sure of the #s but the info is listed publicly on the CAFIB home page.

I would appreciate opinions from anyone that has information that could help me,regardless of whether CAFIB or not. I am trying to gather as much info as possible to make a decision that will help me to end up getting the puppy I am looking for. If they are aware my search, I would appreciate thier input.

I have not seen a Fila in person yet but it is my intent to find as many people/breeders that I can that would allow to see them and hit the road for a trip around the Fila world. :) As it is I have to settle for literature and videos. Also, it is my understanding that there will be a show/qualification in the states soon(within the next year) and I am trying to find the dates and such so that I can attend.
Rugers-Kris Have you ever seen a Fila in person?

here is a link someone else posted a while back about one persons experience in the "Fila World". http://www.dog-pictures.co.uk/dog-pictures/rescue-operation-fila.shtml

There is A CAFIB exposition to be scheduled on October of 2013 most likely in North Carolina. More info will be available as the time nears.

BTW not to seem TOO one sided here is a link to Ms. Kuels rebuttal to Ms Van Damme's book: http://www.canildosertao.com/30.html (ps the pictures on the bottom of the article are not the real dogs that were shipped to EU, Ms Kruel made that up and we have at least one picture of the real dog)

And here is a rebuttal to Kruel's rebuttal, lol: http://www.lostresnaranjos.com/pages/articthreecom.html

These along with the books I suggested should keep you busy for a while and should help with any opinion you have to make.

Thank you, dog man. I really do appreciate you helping me find all of this info. I will be ordering books today as well as checking out these links. I've got my highlighter out ready to mark everything that stands out to me! LOL I am a big reader so it may not keep me busy as long as you might think but I am on it. :)

So basically "BTW not to seem TOO one sided here is a link to Ms. Kuels rebuttal" (ps she is a liar).

Rugers-Kris since this is probably new to you Clelia Kruel is a retired breeder, FCI judge and author of several books on Filas. She bred large, heavy boned, functional, hard temped CBKC type Filas and is HATED by CAFIB people and they have done everything in their power to slander and discredit her. If you do your research you will find honesty and humility are not the CAFIB's strongest traits for sure, which is why many respectable breeders stay away from that orginization entirely. BTW Mrs. Kruels bloodlines were Do Camping and they still exist under other kennels name to this day(some in strong % due to linebreeding). And I can tell you from first hand experience these lines tend to have excellent prey drive which is rare in todays Filas, but very evident and documented in Filas over the last 200 years.

Do you have any websites, literature, breeders that you can point me in the direction of? I am interested in researching both (or should I say all sides as the more I read, the more I see) sides of the Fila argument. There is no way that I can figure out what I want or which way I want to go for a puppy unless I look at both sides. The problem is that several people want to argue against the CAFIB but haven't offered me any insight as to why and I can't seem to find any info publicly either. I would love to have a full understanding of all realms and if there is anything you can offer me, even an honest opinion I am open to it and will appreciate it greatly!!! :) Also, Prey Drive is a good thing? It was my understanding that Fila's weren't supposed to have a high prey drive. I don't want to sound ignorant but honestly don't know how prey drive is a plus.
LOL

lol, Ace.. Honesty is what CAFIB is all about! We dislike (not hate) Ms. Kruel because she writes fiction and passes it off as fact and has people that dont do proper research patting her on the back (common in CBKC). Remember it isnt "slander" if its true.

I certainly aint trying to turn you off to cafib. I dont have any issue with cafib dogs. I'm just saying to find an animal you like regardless.
