I am looking for the dog I like first and foremost but I think it is important to understand the different standards to understand what I am getting. I just have this "The more ya know, the better off you are" mentality, though, I am realizing that approach is frustrating.

I think the one dogman wrote CBKC standard is actually Cafib standard as well, it shows the black dog being a disqualification and the CBKC standard black dogs are allowed.

Hi Kris,

Here is another link for you to consider, you will find many interesting opinions in here as well.

http://www.thefilabrasileiro.com/

Perhaps you will get a better perspective of where dogman#1 is coming from, he posts under the name brasileirokid in this site.

Just a note; You will never find me ridiculing any particular breeder on a public forum, no matter which standard they adhere to, however, in all fairness, I've seen many CAFIB dogs that show a definite mixing of breed in their type. So do yourself a favor and search CAFIB Fila, hit images on your browser and take a good look at some of these dogs. You very well may like the smaller frame, more houndy look of CAFIB dogs.

I'm not trying to push or sell one standard over the other, as I stated before, what I prefer may not fit what you are looking for.

Again, good luck with your journey.

I wasnt "ridiculing" any breeder. In CAFIB if you post up a dog it is for everyone to critique it not to get pats in the back no matter what... I really hate that about the non CAFIB folks... there was a black and tan dog not too long ago posted and everyone said how obviously mixed bred it was, even the non CAFIB folks said it... well the guy said "how could it be mixed bred if it came from dogs bred by XWZ kennel?" all of a sudden everyone erased their comments and said "beautiful specimen", "long lost trait", and "they should change the standard to allow such a magnificent Fila"... CAFIB isnt about making you feel good about yourself, CAFIB is about the preservation of the breed and if it hurts your feelings then by all means never post your Fila or bring it to a show because the judge WILL tear your dog apart. NO dog is perfect and some are obviously not even filas so when you bring your dog to a CAFIB show do not expect fancy things, it is you, your dog, the judge and other participants in there listening and learning.. there will be no pats on the backs only lessons learned from critiques especially the harsh ones.

If someone asks me to help find them a dog I am not going to sugar coat it. I wont go out of my way to recommend a kennel, I only recommend breedings because although I may like a particular style of dog that one breeder has their current breeding might be worthless! I can even tell that kennel owner that I dont like that breeding, I will tell them why and they would respect that as would I when they tell me. for some reason if you point out one fault on a non CAFIB dog then you are being offensive or aggressive. what kind of help would that be if I only recommended friends?

You can google images of CAFIB Filas or CBKC Filas and get labradors, cane corsos, Tosas and saint bernards in there... that is not how one does proper research.

BTW I like the "Filabasa" one... too funny.

And it takes the inevitable turn south. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

If I was you I would ignore all the ckbc/cafib babble. Both have good dogs, and both have ones that are " worthless".They both have dogs that fit and ones that dont. They both have a range of temps from hard to soft. And both are trying to make money regardless of what the groups like to say. Both can fry chicken with their mouth.

Juan, at the CAFIB show that was here in the US, this year. How many dogs were shown in total? How many passed? How many failed?
