I will do alot of research on the people that want to buy my neo puppies and I am sure there are
going to be some I turn down, someone called and wanted to know if I knew any one that wanted
there neo pup they got from someone else because they were more work than they thought
they would be. DO YOUR RESEARCH people, no they don't come already trained, YOU have got
to put alot of work into large breeds.

lol i hear you what your saying, some guy saw me walking n training my dane n thought its easy to do in there head if she can it must b easy this same guy got a GD puppy(6mons male) n had the hard times taking it for walks on top that its was very aggessive torwards people by the time it was 9mon he COULD NOT WALK THE DOG n he felt he had to get rit of it:(
people should should not only do the research but ask owner of the breed what it take to care for a new puppy n if possible work with the breed at train classes

Regardless of research, once you commit to that animal, it aint allowed to be to much work. It aint fair to the dog cause your an asshat

Another ditto!

I did tons of research. I have owned large dogs all my life. The one right before Cane was 110 pound GSD. I was told Cane would be about 130 to 140, so what was another 20 pounds? A hell of a lot! When he wants to go off I can't hold him, period. So we have changed our life to keep him and others safe. You commit, you find a way to make it work.

No one can describe how much a Fila hates strangers. Until you own one you just don't get it, then it is too late. That is why I come on so strong when newbies come on here saying they want a Fila. I just want them to have some clue as to what they are getting into if their cute little pup has a "hard" temp.

I was amazed when he got Murphy, the previous owner said she got a call from someone.......now get this......The person asked "I have a balcony will that work, and are they the dogs that slobber?" Can you imagine!

I agree. i have had phone calls from other breeders laughing cause someone that called me then called them saying what an A-hole I was for not selling them a pup.... they said "well if Juan wont sell you one then there is probably a good reason" they just dont seem to understand that I just probably saved their friend's life or the mailman's life... instead of saying "thanks for all the info, im gonna do more research" they say im an a-hole... a fila is no joke i just go by as an unsung hero, lol.

Juan most folks just dont like reality. And the one bring them that reality is always the ass. The main thing I understood about a Fila is how hard they can be. How much they did'nt like outsiders. I mean, it's one of the most explained, video, and talked about aspect of a Fila. Yet you get folks that " have researched " and it's like the first time anyone mentioned temp is when they get here. I just dont know how you research something like fila's and dont understand they are not friendly with folks on a beach or kids in the streets

So just out of curiosity, does that attitude develop as they age? I can only assume that when people come to buy a pup they cannot meet the parents? Fila is NOT the dog for me, I just never knew about them before and it is interesting.

Most of your better breeders of Fila or also excellent trainers. They can get a lot more out of their dogs than the average owner or even the average trainer. We were able to meet most of her dogs. You could most definitely tell how uncomfortable they were but they were also very obedient and did whatever the breeder asked of them. This is unnatural for them and takes a ton of work.

I may take some flak here and I don't want a newbie to get the wrong idea but Filas are not blood thirsty, nasty dogs. Most are not going to chase you down the street and if given the chance they won't maul. They will warn with a bite and if you stop the aggressive behavior, the Fila should stand their ground and wait for their owner to take charge. Leave a Fila alone and don't come on his property and he will leave you alone.

Yes, it can take some time for the temperament to develop, most should have it by around one, some take a little longer. With our male it was obvious at 9 weeks he didn't like most people but would tolerate them by 9 months we stopped all contact with strangers.

The Kennel where I got my cc told me she had to take a female back because she was too much work for the new owner. They only had her 4 days...its so sad for these new pups people have to remember theres an adjustment period for them and its like having a new baby they need attention and its alot of work so committment comes with owning any dog! A good dog dosent just happen its the owner that puts the time and energy into making the dog what they become!! I Agree with you 1000%

I know i was shocked and pissed because my little girl is so good like your test but nothing unmanagable..they are puppies! I was like how could they give up so quickly. The kennel said that the girl thought the the puppy was to attached to her and cried alot....duhhh she a puppy and needs comforting...better for the puppy to go back then to be raised by someone who "cant handle them" or really in otherwords to self centered to devote their lives to something other then themselves. Mastiffs are to precious for just anyone, I wish more people did what your going to do with buyers
