Well after a discussion with my mother about Xmas arrangements I've decided on what our Xmas day entails.
Me and max are going to spend the day on the beach. Just him and me. Thermos full of tea and a bag full of treats. Heaven.
What are your plans?

Sounds like a great way to spend the day to me!

3 of our 4 kids are working so we'll be stretching the festivities out through the new year. We stopped doing a big meal years ago and make the food all about the appetizers we love and fill up on anyway. We did the beach celebrations while living in Southern California and they were much more fun than arguing relatives and shoveling snow if we'd have traveled to the upper mid-west to be with "family"! :)

I'm sure the beaches in Southern California are better than North East England at this time of year. But the worse the weather the less people so Max can get off the lead

One of my favorite vacations was to Ireland in mid-January. Beaches were empty and beautiful and the locals though we were daft! Having grown up in snow and temps that stay below zero it wasn't bad. Besides warming up in the pub with a pint or 2 was perfect. Enjoy the day with Max!

We usually have a movie marathon, not sure what it's going to be this year, maybe Harry Potter. Just the animals, my hubby and me.

I'm working Christmas Eve, 6:00 pm until at least 5:00 am Christmas morning. Since my kids are 1000 miles away I'm pretty sure I'll be sleeping most of the day. That's fine with me.

Here it will be as close as you can get to a traditional Swedish Smorgasbord [in the US] on Christmas eve, incl pickled herring and Swedish akvavit :D with my 2 kids and some good friends and neighbors, opening presents later after eating and a few drinks. Christmas day will be a lazy, eating leftovers, holding the couch down watching TV/movies with the dogs kind of day.

What about Lutefisk? I had a Swedish boyfriend several years ago (we lived together) and know all about the smorgasbord...even learned to like pickled herring. :)

But, the lutefisk...blech. No way, nope....I almost choked after the first bite. My bf, Peter, however, loved the stuff...

Oh the joys of owning a fila, being queer and old!

We will be celebrating Xmas alone, thank you Cane! We actually have a wonderful family but a 6 hour drive one way gets hard on you as you get older. We will enjoy our time together, munch on prime rib and and finish up watching Veronica Mars. As long as I'm with Debra it is always the best day of my life.

Titan and I are spending the day watching movies and eating (I'm cooking turkey with all the fixings)! He gets to pick one movie which he always picks a horror flick. :)

I like the holidays at the park because Titan can run off leash. :)

I've been invited to spend the day with family but I decided this year I would do my thing. It's the first Christmas since my mom passed away so I'm not in the festive mood.

Titan and I will have a great day!

We will be spending the day at home as well with P, Oliver and Zoomie. I have a car that's dying so traveling anywhere isn't a possibility. We will have a traditional Christmas dinner and we will all eat too much and have a relaxing day. ;)

Happy holidays everyone. :)

We are doing our celebration on Christmas Eve instead of Christmas morning this year. It will be Myself, My three boys, Their other halves, 4 grandchildren and of course Ruger and Magnum. Ham and a million other sides, homemade breads and cakes and cookies. I LOVE Christmas!

I am sorry to hear about your mom, Deb. Enjoy your day with Titan. Robin, I won't be inviting anyone besides my immediate family, either.......Ruger wouldn't have it. :)
