Xerxes almost made my grand daughter poop her pants this morning.

Sent my 8 yr old granddaughter out the door to catch her school bus this morning. Went into the bedroom to make the bed. Granddaughter came running back in through the door because she forgot something. I heard Xerxes go tearing to the door, growling/barking and almost pooped my pants. I go as fast as my stupid back would allow me to make sure all was okay, just in time to see him recognize who it was and watch him skid across the hardwood floor, trying to get stopped. Her eyes were as big as saucers and she was as white as a ghost. (She's afraid of big dogs but slowly getting used to Xerxes and her own family dog, a doofy Rottie) He slams into the wall sideways and then laid down wagging his tail at her.

Poor kid almost crapped herself.

Xerxes knows everyone's schedules and doesn't go to the door when we are all coming and going on schedule but any departure to that and he is "on". I am just very glad that he turned himself "off" without me there to tell him to, in time to get stopped.

We are working on getting him to not "rush" the door. He becomes a big ball of skittering legs on the hardwood. LOL

After school she asked me how he did that. I said "did what?" and she says.... "go from looking like he wanted to eat me, to looking like a doof so fast". LOL

I have to admit, I was totally overwhelmed by his temperament issues when we first brought him home and even a month ago. But the more I get to know him and see his ability to figure things out on his own so quickly. The more I love this dog and am glad I did bring him home.
