Worried about Cane Corso's ear stand up

My CC puppy is 3,5 months old and he had his ears cropped at 01/17. His left ear stands up correctly but the right one seems to be a little lazy. The vet told me ten days ago that there is no problem and that the ear will stand by itself but i haven't seen any progress yet. I ask for your opinions because i 've never had a CC before. Here is a photo of him. By the way his name is Ugo. DSC01021.jpg

Can't help too much as I do not have a CC but he is beautiful. I am not sure with the breed but I know taping is used to get a ear the way you want it.

Most time a corso crop isn't too long that they need to be posted. If you can massage them several times a day with some lotion into the shape that you want them to harden to promote blood flow to the ears they will generally stand up on their own without posting. If the ear crop is longer then sometimes they do need to be posted but his do not look that long so you should be fine. Also if you puppy is teething then it might take a little longer for them to stand as that seems to affect the ears on some dogs.

I know sometimes Dobe owners use breathrite strips to get the tips of long show crops to stand, I think we did with ours, it's just been so long now lol... any way, that might be enough for a CC crop to stand... one on the inside (works best if you shave the inside) and maybe one on the outside as well.

This happened to my female PC. One ear stood straight up and the other was a little weak. I decided to tape it up a little longer giving it extra support. Sorry that I can't be more specific with a time frame, but
it has been many years and she is at Rainbow Bridge. I don't think my taping the ear a little longer did
anything to strengthen the ear, I think it just required a little more healing time as there were no s/s of
infection or anything. After the healing process, both ears were erect.

One of my CC's ears went up and down until she was done teething.
I would just massage it. When they teeth sometimes the cartlidge softens which can make the ear "flop" until they are done and it hardens.
Others I know have used a tampon and surgical tape to post it up, that is an option as well, if you are worried.
here is a picture of my girl at 4.5 months, her ear is up and standing now :)

Thank you all for your useful advice and especially you BlackShadowCaneCorso because i must say that i was very anxious about his ears and you gave me hope that probably there is no problem to worry about

Beautiful puppy! Looks just like Dino's ear did at that age, and it stood up on its own after a month or so

When mine first had his done the vet had a stitch running from the top of each ear to the other to help them stay up. Those were removed when the stitches were and his stood fine then all of a sudden one day one kind of fell. I taped a tampon on the inside of it for a couple weeks or so and then it was back up. Not sure if it was necessary but it all worked out.

Thank you Ralo but my problem is that his ear (opposite to your CC) is falling like as if is wasn't cropped. Your dog's ear was falling down to his head. I 'm afraid that his ear seems to stand like the natural ear

I would massage it for now. Ears can droop up until 6 months or so while teething. If you are concerned, it wont hurt anything to post it. Tape for a few days and then leave it be for a day, If it falls again re-tape. It may stand and then fall again in a month, if that happens start the taping process again.

Same thing happened with my Corso, massaged everyday a couple times a day and used Dr Scholls foot inserts cut to fit inside ear and glued using skin bond and gave it some support. Worked and now both are standing with no issues.

We don't have skin bond in Greece. They don't even know what it is. I told the vet in my neighborhood (not the one who did the surgery) and was very skeptical... He had never heard of it.. so I leave the Dr Scholls-skin bond practise for now and will go on with massaging.
If I don't have good results, do you think I will have a chance to fix it later , when he finishes with teethin, with some technique or is it now or never?

You will have time to fix later after the teething. I think until probably about 9 to 10 months you are okay taping (I have heard from a couple of people) and can still get a good standing ear.

Perhaps you should mail it to me :razzberry:
Send me your address again Ang.
I lost it when we moved last year. I will grab one for you and send. What size?
Seriously, I owe you a Christmas card ;p
I would try the tampon with tape for a bit.
