Why you should never wrap a leash around your wrist.

Took Wife out to the reservoir for a push and Mouse for a walk.
(I am forever telling her not to wrap the leash around her wrist.)

Some idiot in his 20's, thought it would be funny to stomp at Mouse while wife was holding him, result was Mouse roaring up sounding like he was going to eat him and launching the wife out her chair, him and his buddy found it a lot less funny when I threw him in the gravel parking lot.

End result is 1 finger dislocated in 3 places, sprained wrist, tear in the skin and as you can see alot of bruising.

(Right before as I'm about to pull the truck up to load them up)

Hope she heels quickly- poor thing! She's not alone, I have a scar on my wrist from making the same mistake 6 years ago while walking my parents super-hyper yellow lab.

Ouch, how awful. That's the last thing your wife needed. I don't know why people suck so much in general. Glad you gave him what was coming, although he deserved a lot worse. Hope she heals quickly. Looks like it was a beautiful day too.

It most likely would have been a lot worse but I was more concerned about her, way it was swelled I thought something was broken.
It will most likely look a lot worse in the morning, once all the bruising sets in.

Oh, I would have been furious with such idiots---and who does that, teasing a dog that is next to his person in a wheelchair, for god's sake...

Anyway, sorry this happened, but at least nothing was broken-hope she heals quickly.

Sorry to hear that. I'm glad her injuries were not worse. I tell my kids all the time not to wrap the leash for the same reason. I'm not as compassionate as others I would have let my dog bite him. Serves them right for doing that to someone in a wheelchair.

What a rotten thing to do. That looks very painful. I'm glad it wasn't worse and hope she's feeling better today. I don't understand why people think it's funny to tease animals.

Wishing your wife a speedy recovery. Good boy Mouse for scaring the s**t out of the waste of space. Maybe that ( as well as yourself) will make them think twice before doing something so idiotic.

What a horrible person! Glad you reinforced that behaviors have consequences - one that stupid deserved worse. Hope your wife heals quickly, you two and Mouse have been through enough. Good boy Mouse for protecting his mommy!!

Sorry to hear about your wife but glad she's ok! I actually wrap the longer leash we use around my hand. Never thought twice about doing it but that will be changing now. I typically don't use that one but on the occasions I do I won't be holding it like that anymore.

My hubby often wraps the leash around his hand... I cringe, every time I see him do it... I might have to print that picture for him. I have a feeling he'll need to experience it himself to stop, though. :(

Hope you wife heals fast.

And I hope the jerks learned from their experience meeting the parking lot "face to face" as it were, too.

Oh my goodness! WTH is the matter with some people, eh? Poor Mouse spends his time protecting his Mamma and then ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch that looks painful. How bout we go play stomp on that nimrod's head?

I use to wrap the leash around my wrist when I walk jack: I've been body surfing on the sand once at the beach, when he decided to play soccer with some people... However, to be honest, I prefer few bruises and my dog under control then dropping the leash and see what happens...

I hope your wife has and quick and complete recovery! What kind of idiot does that, you should have called the cops on him! (Can you not file a police report for something like that?) Although I'm sure your #1 priority was your family. That is disgusting and angers me just hearing it! I would have said, that you should have let Mouse bite him, but then you and mouse would be in trouble of your own :(.

When walking large breeds, I used wrap the leash around one hand and hold the middle with the other. I guess this would be a safer way to hold it?

Ps. Thanks for sharing that with us. Good things to know!
