Why feed puppies 3 times a day?

So this is just a question but as stated in the title, why feed 3 times a day instead of 2 like when their adults, is it just to help prevent bloat or is there another reason?

It does help with bloat but also their stomachs are smaller and they generally eat more compared their size then an adult. As an example: if you feed raw and the puppy has a ideal adult weight of 100 lbs. The 2 lbs of food each day seems a lot bigger compared to a 30 lb puppy than the 100 lbs adult.

Pretty much what Smokeycat said, pups usually need ALOT of food in comparison to their size, between growing like weeds and running around like nuts they go through a TON of energy. Its often hard to make sure the pup is getting enough in two meals just because there are physical limits. 3 or even 4 meals a day make it possible to be sure the pup is getting everything it needs.

Ok sounds good. I was feeding 3 times a day anyways, my roommate asked me why 3 instead of 2 like his dog and I didn't have a good answer besides "I was told to" lol. Now I have a solid answer.
