I recommended 3 lbs since he's 6 months old and that's on the high end of recommended feeding @ 3%, however, I did recommend to reduce the amount if he gains too much weight. It all depends on the dog.

I think he looks good based on everything that i've ever read. You don't want to put the pounds on too quickly, being lean is good for their growing bones and joints. He will eventually get to his adult weight, don't try to rush it. We have a big problem with pet obesity in this country, mostly because many don't recognize what an ideal weight or body condition looks like.
