my spouse and i have 2 english mastiff pups. one is 4 months old and the other is 5 months old. right now we are feeding them pedigree large breed adult food. is that a good food for them or should i switch it? they like it a lot but i want to make sure its healthy for them. the first ingredient is corn and i have heard that is good. i need something that is also not too hard on the budget. i pay $22 for a 36.4lb bag right now. the two of them go through that in like 12 days.

Dont want to feed high protein to mastiff pups causes their bones to grow to fast do the research. Want 21-24% protein. I feed Diamond Natural not to expensive also could check out Canidae.

TOTW (Taste of the Wild) Is a GREAT brand for giant breeds dogs. Its grain free and low % of protien.

if there is a Costco near you their Kirkland food has a reasonable price and has quality ingredients. My EM is not home yet however, I do have two German Rottweilers and they have done really well on this food. At 8 years of age they have plenty of energy and are in perfect health.

My advice is to buy the best food you can afford, bad food could lead to health problems which could either shorten the lifespan or end up leaving you with a very expensive vet bill.

I used to feed Pedigree large breed but I switched to Purina One lg breed. The Pedigree has corn as the first ingredient the Purina One has Chicken as the first ingredient. I'd love to feed something else but I just can't afford alot of the other brands.

I would feed Taste of the wild or Acana, all stages grain free food, like Grasslands. If it is out of your budget Costco does carry a good food.
