  • Welcome back!

We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

What food has given you the best results?

Thanks! I'll see if the places around here have any in stock. I found place I can order Earthborn Holistics from, but Canidae is definitely cheaper. I may just order EH anyway, at least until Mira's older.

Yea the good thing is once they turn two there are so many more foods to choose from so things can be a little bit cheaper.

With most of my dogs, I have found that less is more.
My Mastiff pup was on Blue to start with, but it was too rich and at 9 weeks she pooped like 7x a day. I switched to Wellness Simple and then added Wellness Lg Breed Puppy. She has been on this mix since then and it works so far. No bad gas or overly frequent stools. I also use Natural Balance rolls, hot dogs and string cheese when training. We have a dairy here so she likes to snack on the corn, soybean meal and, well, poop if she can get to any of those. I don't let her loose in the barns because she'd be eating up the poop like no tomorrow. ;)

I feed prey model raw to my three dogs (one of them being an English mastiff).

Smaller poops mean more nutrition is being absorbed. They seem happier gnawing and crunching on fresh meat than dry kibbles. Their coats are improving and their teeth look great.

If you are not sure how to begin or have just started and arent sure...here is a great website

We are now feeding Cruiser Blue Basics Limited Ingredient Salmon & Sweet Potato. It turns out the itching and scratching came from any feed with chicken listed in any form. Blue has a line of feed with basic ingredients, no grain, no fillers, no by products, meal...etc. He is doing much better and loves the mess out of it!

Even if real raw is not possible for you at the moment you can try freeze-dried raw food. It is very convenient to prepare, just add some lukewarm water and you are ready to serve the dog's meal. Have a look at the K9 Naturals dog food and ADDICTION freeze dried food. These are great and we have tested these brands on our dogs.

Have been feeding mine Taste of the Wild (Rotate the salmon, duck and bison) for almost 2 years now. Their coats are awesome. At first with feeding the duck especially, they had gas fairly bad but that has subsided-I am glad to say!

Ok I amgoing to ask another question on here since this is where all the food people are. Can food cause your dog to shed more and if so is it a bad thing and why?

It can. Shedding for a little while when you first switch for a little while is normal but if it continues past the first month or so it would be best to switch.
