I was wondering what you guys and gals do about gas. My EM has some horrible gas and he eat a high quality dog food. Is there any thing you do to help with the gas problem. I know mastiff are bad about having gas.

I used to have a lot of problems with gas with Ebony, on various kinds of kibble. She's now eating a homemade fish-and-sweet potato meal twice a day and she's never smelled better! I hate jumping on bandwagons, but the no-kibble diet seems to work really well (it's not "true" raw, since I do cook the potatoes). Conferred with the husband the other day, he hasn't noticed a single fart from her and neither have I.

yogi toots every time he walks up stairs.... and a lot of other times too when he is just sitting there. funniest part is he will just look around all surprised like someone else did it.

his gas was real bad when i fed him blue buffalo, i switched foods and its gotten much better.

Blue Buffalo gave my dog runs and horrible gas!!! (and he was on it for a month because I figured it was just the initial shock of the switch and he would get used to it......Nope! Lol)

Boxers are known for their flatulance too! I don't think there is a "cure", but I have feed raw for awhile and I think it makes a difference in their gas. It also cuts down on the the "amount" of poo (or as my dad always said, "sharp knives") in the backyard. With a Mastiff, I would think that would be a real plus :) Good Luck!

We feed our guy Diamond large breed and (knocking like heck on wood) have never had a single gassing from him.

I have to say... I've never had a problem with my mastiff...the dane on the other hand has always had an issue no matter what food I use but I do find that some foods don't agree with some dogs, check the protein in the food you are feeding and the protein source; and maybe get something lower in protein. I would switch his diet and see if it improves

I slyly put my shirt over my nose and wait for it to waft over to my wife. The expressions are priceless when you know they're coming.

We feed ours Innova and he had horrible gas for a while...after we took away treats that had any wheat in them his gas decreased significantly. But when he does let one go I evacuate the room and if I'm in the car the window goes down immediately :)

Our mastiff had terrible gas! We switched to 4 Health Lamb and rice dog food from Tractor Supply. The gas stopped! Now we only have gas if someone leaves the gate open and he gets some cat food, or some treat that visitors give without thinking. The gag factor of the gas was more than anything I had ever experienced before!
