What breed do people confuse your dog with?

My Presas get ...
Conan always gets "Boxer Pit?"
Xade always get "PitBull?"

But when I lived in Michigan I was walking them one night and this guy stops me and asks "Are those Rotweilers?"
All I could do was laugh lol

My brindle EM is getting Rottweiler now. I even had one upset that I didn't dock my rotties tail.

When folks see Chico they think he is a pit bull mix, most of them say he is to big to be a pure pit bull so his got to be a mix, we tell them that he is a Cane Corso and they will reply oh I've never heard of that breed before. Just the other day this one guy said "wow that's the biggest boxer I have ever seen in my life" Really?? That was Funny!!!

I didn't realize I already commented this! Hahaha

Oh man, guys, this just reminded me. I was at the park a few weeks ago with my son and Bruno, and a lady walking her dog came over to talk to me about him.
First thing she says "is that a labradoodle?!" Uhhhhhh .... -.-

Our 6 mo old bm usually gets guessed as a boxer, and this befuddles me as he's almost always out with our 7 yr old boxer, and they are the same size now. :)

I get "is she a dane?" all the time with Ronnie, which might go on for some time as her mum was quite slim for an EM. Eveybody recognizes the saints though! The bit that irks me a little is when you say she's a mastiff and they go "oh a Bullmastiff".I have no problems with BM's at all, in fact one is on the plan for when I return to rescues in the relatively near future but it bugs me a little that people don't know the difference.

When Atlas was a younger smaller puppy a little girl- and an older man- asked if he was a shar pei!! ahaahahahahahahahahaa!! But besides that- people usually just ask what he is. And when I say french mastiff(since Lords knows i wouldn't try to say Dogue de Bordeaux to most) they usually go- i didnt know they came in that color- since they think all mastiffs=old english mastiffs ughhh lol

I get a lot of "that's not a dog it's a horse"or "ohh my God that dog is huge" but if they do you guess use it's just a straight Mastiff. Most people don't know what in English Mastiff is. I live in an area with a lot of small to medium dogs. Leo is probably the only Mastiff I've seen.

Wow I really don't understand why you all get so miffed about the mistakes. I get all sorts of stupid questions and am happy to know that I have a breed that is so uncommon that almost no one knows about it. I get Dane, Boxer, OEM, EM, DDB, Pitt, and a few others including "It's a mastiff right" I tell them Boerboel or South African Mastiff and smile. Lots of people get goofy and pull away a few ask does she bite? I say "yes all dogs bite you just never know what can cause it, but she is safe to pet." Most times if I walk my RottenChows and her or just the RCs down the road people tend to stay away and cross the road away from us. I am fine with it so I don't have to deal with the touchy feely types as much.

I get a lot of people who think brodie is a bullmastiff..but today, someone asked if he was a golden lab mixed with mastiff lol... i was actually almost insulted by that comment....I have also gotten Sharpei...WTF... panzer always gets called a pitbull...why i dont know... she looks NOTHING like a pit bull... and everyone, and i mean everyone ALWAYS thinks she is a boy...but she is very large for a female boxer... but i mean come on...lol ive even had someone stop me while out for a walk and ask if they could use her as a stud... yeah, ok...but i cant promise your bitch will have pups... lol

My Corso puppy Leo, gets lab most often right now. I guess I kind of see it, because he is so dark, but when he is side by side with other lab puppies there is no question the two breeds a very different.

I have got Pitt-bull once from a lady in our puppy class, but she is not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

I quickly gave up calling my dog a Cane-Corso, because no one had any idea what the heck I was saying. Actually about 4 months ago I was the same way, so I can't say much. I now just refer to him as a Italian mastiff. All they hear is mastiff, and I almost always get, oh I have an uncle who has one.

None of the wrong comments bother me. Actually I love telling anyone who will listen how amazing this breed is, and the wrong guess on the breed often sparks that conversation.

Most of the incorrect breeds have disappeared from people's questions and now I usually just get asked either what is he or is he some kind of mastiff, usually bullmastiff. There is one lady that still hates that my Rottweiler has a full tail, I've given up on correcting her and just say that is how his breeder left it and I don't want to pay to have a vet remove it now.

More often than not I get a blank look when I say Rolex is a Cane (Kah-nay) Corso so I say they are also known Cane (sugar cane) Corsos. I even heard had some people refer to him as a King Corso. If they still don't know I say he is an Italian mastiff, lately people ask me "like the one that killed that lady?" I usually say I haven't heard much about the story but that it wasn't a CC. I also mention that CCs are related to Neos because people are more familiar with them (ie. Fang from Harry Potter). Surprisingly more and more I have had people actually guess his breed correctly though they almost alway say he seems small for his age. Now that Roly is 55 lbs I either get Boxer or "what kind of dog is he?" Whenever people ask me if he is a Boxer I half expect them to comment on the horrible job on his ears, LMAO. It doesn't really bother me when people guess Roly's breed wrong either, CCs are not a breed that the general populace is aware of or familiar with and if you have never heard of/seen one then its very understandable to confuse them with Boxers or Pit Bulls. When Rolex hits the 100 lbs. mark I'll be curious to see what people guess.

Yesterday I was walking piper, my cane corso. A man stopped walking, Apologized for staring. He asked if I watched the National Dog Show, to which I replied yes. He began talking about his favorites. He went on and on talking about how much he loves dogs. He then asks, what is she anyways? A poodle? I'm not sure if it was because it was around dusk or the fact that I live near a bar. Either way it was entertaining

Most often is the boxer assumption, then its rott. On occasion Bull Mastiff, had a guy actually argue with me that Greta was a BM...cuz apparently i don't know my own dog breed lol.
