Well known Mastiff Breeder Abandons Dogs

I am not sure how many of you have heard about this, but I think we should spread the word in anyway we can to help, because the Mastiff community has been struck hard this week. A well known breeder by the name of Gloria Davis (Lionhearted Mastiffs) that many considered a friend, a mentor and a dog lover, abandoned her dogs with no food or water and left them in the cold freezing temperatures in the mud to die.

A volunteer went in yesterday and picked up 7 bodies of the abused Mastiffs and found they were shot in the head. Animal control took 3 bodies to help build there case against Gloria Davis. Fortunately 7 adults and 5 pups were found in time and are also with animal control getting the care they need. SSMR is also ready to help once animal control is able to release the dogs to them.

Please, read Max's story and if you come across this woman IMMEDIATELY contact authorities. My understanding is they have an arrest warrant for her. She is on the run, possibly to Florida, and has taken up to 10 Mastiff with her. From all the posts it sounds like she has other dogs of various breeds with her also. Most likely at some point, she will go back to dogs as a source of income.

***WARNING*** At the bottom of this story are a few graphic images. You can read to the bottom but do not scroll if you do not want to see them. The story in itself is heart wrenching also.

Here is a link to the full story. Again, this link contains additional graphic pictures. But pictures of Gloria Davis are also posted along with more information on the situation.

Please Feel Free to Crosspost. This woman NEEDS to be found, before she can do this again. I cried so hard after seeing these pictures and reading about everything. I just can't wrap my mind around how a person could do this. I can't figure out why people that knew about her and who she actually was didn't step up sooner and speak out. I just pray that the authorities are able to find her and bring these amazing animals the justice they deserve.

We had a similar case in the UK, a breeder who ran a kennels in northamptonshire abandoned 101 st.bernards and approximately 15 other dogs to go on a two week holiday. 3 st.bernards died from starvation and many other came very close, although all dogs have been rehomed due to a very impressive response by the local comminity in organising help and shelter for these dogs. The evil woman who ran the kennels, however, only got a less than 12 months jail sentence and will be able to own dogs again in 5 years. This is because in the UK we have no system that regularly checks breeders or kennels.

How much of the facts do you people have?
Knowing Gloria, we find this hard to believe that she would do such a thing. My understanding, is that no one knows why or what happened. For all we know she could have been murdered.
We have know Gloria for about 5 years and have worked very close with her and her dogs. There is no amount of money that she would not spend on them. She is one of the BEST breeders we have EVER known. And we know that Max was her pride and joy.

We do agree that what has happened is bad. But, we do not know the FACTS. Lets not be the judges!!!!

Gloria, If you are out there. We hope you are okay. We are sorry to hear about what has happened and want you to know that not everyone is out to hang you. If you did do this, PLEASE, turn yourself in. To the animals that died, my you rest in peace. Max, big boy, we love you dearly.
