Wanting to give an Old English Mastiff in need a home with our family

Hello,
I have recently had to let my girl go, after being diagnosed and fighting with Lymphoma. A huge hole is left here without her and we have alot of love to give. I miss my companionship on walks, hikes, and exploring the beaches with my girl...would love to share with another. We are on Vancouver Island, but willing to travel when the right connection comes along. Please, if there are any questions, do not hesitate to ask. Blessings.

Welcome and I am so sorry for your loss :(
The Canadian Mastiff rescue quite often has dogs available.
Mia on this page also does rescue on the lower mainland.
Good luck finding a baby to share your life with.

Thank you Cody for your thoughts and sharing the information. I will try and seek out Mia here and find further information. I look forward to the right connection with another some day. Tamara....and Merry Christmas to you and your family.

I am not officially rescue but help where I can. There is a male in the chilliwack shelter at the moment, I think he's a bull mastiff, but he's older and lovely:
http://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/21448166 I would love to bring him home but I have a male dog so it won't work. I feel in love with mastiffs when I adopted an english from this shelter, they are great and go the extra mile for the dogs.

Thank you Mia for the link...I had seen Rusty online...he looks like a beautiful boy and I feel so badly he is without a forever home at his age. It makes me sad and wish I was stronger. I would prefer a younger fellow or girl, it sounds terrible to say this....I know we never know how long we have here, but I would like to try an avoid going through the heartache of losing another so soon after losing Gracie.
Thank you for thinking of me and I pray Rusty finds a lovely home really very soon. Merry Christmas and Blessings.

First, contact Mastiff rescue groups. Breed specific rescue groups will often transport dogs, sometimes over very long distances (humanely, using volunteer drivers). Next, call all the rescue groups, humane societies, shelters and animal control (pounds).

Check out craigslist, kijiji, and online ads. Google.

An amazing source is petfinder.com. U can enter in a specific breed and descriptions (often with pics) will be displayed from across the country, with the locations nearest you displayed first. It is the main site used by rescue groups, shelters and pounds.

Lastly, there is always the alternative, providing a foster home to a Mastiff. All breed specific rescue groups are looking for foster homes. It's a short term commitment and all costs are covered - food, vet, transportation. If the dog fits in u can adopt him/her permanently. An added bonus, u free up a foster home so they can rescue another dog who is due to be euthanized.
