Update on Me and the Pups

So as some of you may have read in one of my prior threads I have an impending big move and I had a job opportunity. I have since negotiated with the person who offered me the new job to work part time for them while retaining my current full time job (I okayed this with my current boss as well, it is non-competing but I wanted to be on the up and up).

So I am now working insane hours but the second job is all from home, so much of my insane hours is from home. And then I picked up some kind of stomach bug so today I worked from home all day doing both jobs (7 am - 9:20pm total for today) Kahlua is passed out next to me and Diesel is keeping the hubby company in the bedroom while I finalize my work. (I also worked through the entire Thanksgiving holiday and am planning to the same over Christmas).

Diesel has been pretty angry that I haven't been able to give him his 1 hour of alone snuggle time in bed this week. But overall the pups have been handling it like champs and have been ultra sensitive to my exhaustion. Good good dogs.

I am praying that all of this extra work pays off in the form of enough money to put a down payment on a home after the move so that our time renting will be at a minimum. Fingers crossed that I can make it through these insane hours intact and that I have something awesome for the whole family to show for it all at the end of this.

My sister asked me what I want for Christmas and the only thing I could think of was "the downpayment for a home or an extra ten hours in the day so I can sleep". She said "How about a hug? I can give you a hug." I said "I'll take it but are you sure you can't get me an extra ten hours in a day?"

Haha so if you don't see me online or active quite as often that is why. Hopefully it doesn't mean I have worked my way into an early grave... Don't worry I'm pretty sure that neither my husband nor my dogs would allow that to ever happen. :)

Anyhow I hope the rest of you are facing the upcoming holidays with excitement and lots of cheer. Me I'm just trying to survive it and wondering if I can justify at least one chestnut praline latte this season. I'm pretty sure the extra caffeine is warranted. :-D

Happy wishes for sloppy dog kisses to all of you and I hope things are calmer and more settled on your end of things. <3

I wondered where you'd been. Nik, are you both first time home buyers? There may be incentives that you qualify for if you are. Check in when you can and remember to take care of yourself.

Yes we will be first time home owners. The biggest hurdle is getting that down payment. Looking at mortgage payments for the area we are looking to move in they are well within our range. I'm just praying that this second job will be enough to get us over that down payment hurdle.

The dogs got to take turns sitting beside me on the couch while I worked throughout the weekend at one point I did have them both up beside me but they tend to get a bit restless when it is the two of them together.

By Saturday night I was beyond exhausted by the time I unplugged from the computer. I lay down with the dogs in bed and Diesel rolled into me and anytime I moved he would press all the way back into me again. Usually our "snuggle" Diesel time involves him sitting about a foot away from my feet. That is where he is happiest. But Saturday night it was all about the full body contact and then I realized after a time that I actually needed it. I had a lot of emotional build up/stress and was able to release it after about 30-45 minutes of that contact. A little past the 45 minute mark when I was starting to feel relaxed and like I had a bit of an emotional release and was breathing easy Diesel moved about a foot away from me (his preferred position). That dog is peculiarly smart. I thought I was doing just fine aside from being exhausted but he knew better.

Sunday when I had a little break (like an hour break or so) I spent part of the time rubbing paw butter into the dogs paws. Diesel enjoyed his paw massage and Kahlua tolerated her's but was annoyed I wouldn't let her immediately lick off all the paw butter. I spent the rest of my break from work time doing house work and calculating my hours for job 2.... turns out I spent 39 hours total on job #2 last week and over 40 on my main job.... That means more than 80 hours of work last week.

This week looks like it will be equally busy.

I've been a little less tolerant of needy family members then usual with the hectic schedule. My dad and my husband have both decided I am their social planner, life coach, etc. over the past 10 years or so and I basically had to tell both of them that they were going to have to do their own planning and research for the next couple of weeks at least. Hubby was a little disgruntled and I had to explain to him it was a matter of me simply not having enough hours in my day and needing to sleep at some point. He did help around the house a little more than usual this weekend though doing a load of laundry that was desperately needed.

Anyhow back to work for me now. :) This post was my chip eating break and now its back to juggling two jobs for the next several hours. :-D

Your hard work will pay off nik there is nothing better than your own home. You can chose where and do what you want. No one to tell you no pets or what you cant do.
Just remember to look after yourself. Good luck
