Tremors at twilight

Last night was second time it's happened, or at least that I noticed. Pippa was in the twilight of sleep, between awake and asleep, and as she exhaled, her body seemed to shiver. It happened another time also. Talked to vet and he dismissed it, basically. Looked on Internet and the timing of it kind of rules out the causes it lists. She doesn't do it any other time. She's not in pain, or cold... I've made appt to have blood panel to rule out kidney, and any other possible issues. Anyone else experience this?

Not fully asleep yet. In between awake and asleep. Could it be because she runs around outside right before? I know she's not getting enough exercise as it's been -20 windchill for past week.

I would liken it to when we humans are on the verge of sleep and have involuntary spasms. My dogs make all kinds of random movements, shudders, and noises throughout their sleep cycle.

It also happens to my dog, if I allow him to stay out too long and lay on the snow/ cold concrete, and he comes to bed immediately after, he will shiver for a while, after he falls asleep. It stops if he wakes up. First happend in the spring (don't know if it's related or not, but he had surgery the day before it first started), went away in the summer, and started happening again in the autumn. My guess is that they don't really feel the cold as long as they're up and moving but, as soon as they come in to a warm place and start to relax, they start shivering until their body temperature regulates.

@lulicris88, hmmm didn't think of that. She won't lie down and rarely out more than 5 minutes, but it's possible I guess. When I touch her or say her name, she stops doing it. Like now she's napping and it didn't happen, only at bedtime. I can't see her shiver, can only feel it when she's against me.

Oh okay. If you are describing the same thing then my dog will randomly twitch in his sleep. Sometimes he looks like his whole body is seizing, but he will wake up if I said his name. My dog has done this since a puppy. Sometimes it's just the eye lids like he's having a dream, sometimes it's just a leg, sometimes it's the whole body lol. Just keep an eye on her behavior. I don't think it's anything serious.
