I know I'm glad they found us. this site has been a great learning tool for me, I never would of found any Sam's siblings without it. It is also very addicting to see how everyone is doing.

Stopped by the vet today for a friendly visit and weigh in. Sam has put on 5 pounds in the last two weeks. Small steps but at least she is gaining. She doesn't have a huge appetite, any suggestion of some good snacks to give her of mix in her food?

Our new puppy, Gus, is an EM and comes from a great line. He was just 9 pounds when we got him at just over 8 weeks. His mom had mastitis, and they had to bottle feed him--hence, no colostrum and all the good immunities the babies get. We took him to the vet, and he checked out. Today he is 12 weeks and 32 pounds--still a little behind but not too much. Genetics will catch him up. When we brought him home, he was on Blue Buffalo puppy and supplemental formula; however, his bowels were quite loose. We transitioned him off of the formula and over to a Diamond Lamb and Rice large breed puppy food. If your girl is indeed an EM, she will eventually catch up, but you don't want to ad too much weight too fast. It's terrible for the joints. We get the Diamond Lamb and Rice large puppy kibble at our feed store. Good Luck with your girl!!

Well my mini mastiff turned 11 weeks today, she now weighs 11.2 pounds. She is getting taller, grew an 1 1/2" this week. I think she is working off all her calories running around. Lol

Here are a few pictures of Sam. As you can see she is still tiny but making a little progress. The picture of her on her back I took yesterday at work with me. i am fortunate that i can bring her with me, it is a great way for her to meet people and experience new sights and sounds. i guess she worked too hard.

Awesome, she's looking great! I don't know much about Presas, but I can see the breed in her face in the first pic!

I wouldn't worry to much, she doesn't look underweight for her size and thats a very nice rate of growth all things considered. You don't want topush her into growing to fast as that can cause all kinds of problems for her bones and joints down the road.

.

I'm enjoying her small size while I can. She just doesn't seem to care that much about food. She will only eat maybe 1 1/2 to 2 cups a day on a good day. I just want to make sure she is getting enough calories and nutrition.

Maybe just some warm water on the kibble? The extra water isn,t a bad thing, and it can enhance the flavor. Or a home-made meat broth (no seasonings or onions or the like, just boiled meat, cooled, fat skimmed)?

I'm trying to remember, its been so long since I fed kibble, but Apollo was eating 3-4 cups a day at 12 weeks or so, but he was also over twice her size, so I'm not sure that 1.5 cups is that far off really. Of course it varies between kibbles, as to how much is appropriate, but still.

I keep trying to picture what she will look like when she's grown. I've looked at so many pictures online of pups and when they are grown it makes my head spin. Time will tell!

She's almost exactly the same size as Mayzee at those ages!

Took her to the vet yesterday and she was 23 pounds @16 weeks. Everyone keeps saying how huge she is; they obviously aren't mastiff people. :p

I'd say that if she's acting normal, eating some, and doesn't look sickly, she's fine. Mayzee is very lean, but healthy.

Sam is SO cute!!!
