I'm not worried about how Sam turns out for size, just was interested if this was common or was she just not taken care of. She is happy and very active sweet baby.

Sam is doing well. She was 4.2 pounds 13 days ago and she is now 7.8 pounds. She is getting taller though. I know it is not a huge weight gain but close to doubling here weight.

Carter, I believe I bought my mastiff from breeder as you, in Pompano, FL what a coincidence. The dad is a purebred DDB Mastiff, and the mom is a Presa Canario. All the dogs were on Pedigree and they seemed underfed. I took Phoenix home at 5 weeks (due to the environment) and she was the same weight as your pup was at 8 weeks. She started growing instantly on the Wellness Core Puppy she is now 13 lbs. Her paws are as big as my full grown English Bulldog.

Phoenix, It was 2 brothers that had the pups where I got Sam from. What was the birth date of your little girl? I was wondering if they were actually younger than I was told but vet said it seems to be accurate. We will have to watch them grow together. The picture on your avitar looks just like my Sam. Would love to see some pictures of your little one.

Carter, Yep that was definitely them. I know the breeder through a friend, and he told me right when they were born so their ages are accurate, 9.5 weeks. Pretty awesome that we will get to watch them grow together. I put some pictures of Phoenix from last weekend, and also one when we first got her. They are so precious!!

Thanks for the pictures and the missing breed info. I had asked the moms breed and never got a reply from them, dad wasnt to hard to figure out his breed. Maybe some day we can have a play date with the girls. I am in Key Largo.

That's quite a job, I bottle fed a Shih Tzu with a cleft lip from the day he was born, every 2 hours day and night. He turned out great and my brother adopted him.

How big was your pup aroud the 8 or 9 week age?

Hey Carter, my husband and I both use our account and I just got a chance to read through your thread. Such a small world that we found each other on here! This forum has really helped us a lot with any questions we have had. The birthday is June 23, and although they said the mom is a Presa Canario, I believe she may be mixed with either a lab or pitbull. Either way they really are beautiful puppies. From the info I have read here Candiae is one of the good foods. We purchase our food from chewy.com so that it gets delivered directly to our door. She is currently on Wellness Core Puppy but we will be making the change to Earthborn starting today. We are also first time Mastiff owners and have got to admit we get so many compliments on what a calm, sweet dog Phoenix is. Congrats on Sam and if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask :)

I just switched Sam's food yesterday, she did not like the caniade very much. I am trying the Rachel Ray Zero grain free. It has a good rating from dogfoodadvisor.com. She loves it and is finally eating what I give her and then sits next to her bowl waiting for more. I'll have to check out chewy.com.

I asked if mom was a mix and they said no, but ya never know. Doesn't matter to me one way or another I am just enjoying having another little one in the house. We have an 8 year old Boxer and a 6 year old Shih Tzu. Sam is not afraid of either one and loves to tourment them(in a playful way). Sam is calm when we go out of the house and she is more playful at home. I have been taking her to work with me and she is so good.

Looking forward to watching the girls grow up.!!!
