She may not be purebred, if she is you may want to try different foods, my pup wouldn't eat so i changed to kirkland, much cheaper and better, $35 for a 40 pound back, for the natures domain stuff ( salmon, sweet potato , rice ), my cousin's dog tried the kirkland puppy food, but started getting real sick, so that's not something i recommend. Did you see the parents? Get her checked out she's too small.

In that case that could be the reason she's not eating dry food, try to feed her mush. With dog's what you do is not a learning experience, you gotta do it right the first time, she may have worms, my puppy had worms, and was throwing them up at 8 weeks. A deworm should be near, there's a huge chance and i hope i am wrong about the worms but you should start mixing some water in her food, keep her hydrated. Just my two cents.

I met the parents and they were both mastiff's, allthough they were not huge. Both in the low 100's. She has put on 2 pounds in the 5 days that I have had her. I know that doesn't sound like much but that is half of what she weighed when we got her. Her front paws have all of a sudden grown also. They are now almost doubled in size. We are off to the vet tomorrow for shots and worming.
I don't think the people that had her did a very good job with the pups, but once I met her and that little face(which is now getting wrinkles with the added growth) I had to take her home. She will be well loved and taken care of no matter what her size is.
I have a Shih Tzu that was just a little thing when I got him, I met the parents and they were your average size and he turned out to be 30 pounds. So I guess you never know what can happen as they grow.
I'll update on her progress.

Sometimes even the smallest pups in the litter can end up being the largest. My EM girl was 11-12 lbs at 8 weeks. She wasn't a fast grower, averaged about 2-3 lbs per week. Now at 16 months she is still about a very lean 92-95 lbs & only 27" tall at the shoulder. She's a very cute little girl & it sounds like you're doing what you can to get her back to being healthy.

did the vet do a blood workup ??? I would ask them to get one done for peace of mind .... my bitches mature as small as 95lbs , and they weigh near 2 lbs at birth , more than 5lbs at a week .

Thanks for the positive words. I look at it as a positive sign that she has put on some weight since we had her. She also had fleas and was just in a all around bad situation. I wish I could of taken all the pups from there but I think 7 mastiff's would of been a bit too much at once. LOL

Thanks for taking her in and giving her a good home!
Glad to hear she's already thriving and gaining some weight.

I'd keep taking fecals in weekly and/or put her on the de-wormer, just in case. Most puppies do have worms to start off with.

Please post more pictures (bigger if you can) - we LOVE pictures!

Fleas! My gracious! Certainly sounds like you've rescued your new baby from some BAD monkeys. No excuse for that with proper vet care of the parents. Poor wee baby!

She is thriving, growing and gaining every day. I switched her food to canidae Als and its the first food she has eaten and not had to immediately to go to bathroom.
I am amazed at the change in her in just under a week.

I thiknk she is adorable! Sounds like you are doing everything you can to help her grow and be healthy and happy. No way of knowing rght now how big she will end up being but as longg as you can get and keep her healthy, it will all be fine. I would love to see some new pictures now that she is growing. Congrats! :)

Here are some pictures I just took of Sam. Hard to get her to stand still, she is full of it today.
The new food is going well, she is now having regular BM. No more mushy puppy poo.:)

She is cute. Glad she is gaining weight now. When did they say they were born? I know you said they told you 8 weeks but just curious if they gave you a birthdate.

Well the date works out if that is the real date of birth they gave you.
0 years 1 months 28 days
or 1 months 28 days
or 8 weeks 2 days
or 58 days

Just for comparison my friend got a pug recently that was 8 pounds at 8 weeks (largest one) and my brother has a Boston who was 3.5lbs at 8 weeks (a little small but now seems closer to average weight for his breed). She is small but if she doesn't have worms I am sure with you taking care of her you can help her become strong and healthy!

My DDB wasn't much bigger than that at 8 weeks. She was only 11 pounds at 12 weeks, and that surprised me! Now, she's 13 weeks and she is really starting to grow! She was one of two runts, so it'll be an adventure to watch her grow.

I would think that, if she's gaining weight, looking good, and acting normal, all is well. Just keep an eye on her, and she should be fine. :)

She looks like a mastiff but not an English mastiff. Since the parent's were mini mastiff's, i guess she will be one as well. Anyway, don't take my word for it, i'm probably wrong. Good luck with your puppy. I would probably just steal all the puppies, and rehome them on my own. :)

Congrats she is beautiful!!! I know having a mastiff you worry about the weight....but don't she is gonna be however big she is meant to be. :) As long as she is healthy and happy and loved that is all that matters!!!
