  • Welcome back!

We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

Thoughts and prayers appreciated

So our recheck is tomorrow. Monday was her last dose and cough started back about Thursday and is increasing. Not sure what will happen but thought I'd post a video or two to get input from some more educated people than myself.

It looks like something is stuck in her throat and she's trying to cough it out? I know when my little dog had worms he coughed bits of it out...so gross.

Yes, I was thinking the lungworms would cause this type of cough also. She's had it consistently, then on day 11 or 12 of her 14 day deworming treatment, I noticed it was gone. Then came back 3-4 days post treatment. It happens with the slightest bit of energy she uses. Maybe walking from the yard to come inside, 20 ft tops. If she gets excited and minimally jumps around for 1 minute it comes. I am bringing these and more videos along with a stool sample to check for parasites tomorrow. We know her eosinophils were extremely elevated along with globulin levels and will retest them tomorrow. I am at a loss.

She really does like her new ride. Especially when there is no obnoxious little brother with;) lol

Decided on more X-rays and blood work. I will go back at 4:30pm. They asked if I could leave her this time. I guess that is better than sitting for 6 hours alone again.

Any word? Waiting for good news.

Thank you for checking, but no good news:(

The CBC showed slight increase in eosinophils but more concerning is the presence of microfilaria. But 3(July, December and today) heart worm tests are negative. Having the microfilaria tested to see exactly what they are. If not heart worm then she's thinking lung infection/disease. She said it's rare but there are cases of benign microfilaria in the blood BUT it is NOT common. Not sure what to think. We will start antibiotics and gabapentin(?) tomorrow and wait for the results of the microfilaria. We were there 6.5 hrs today and Chica is out! Poor girl. Everyone just LOVES her though:)

Don't get down yet! Not enough info to think it is that bad. Cane always seemed to have something wrong with him each time I would just know that he wasn't going to make it BUT he did. Just know that you are giving her your very best and that will get you both through this.

I wish I knew more about this or knew someone that did. I always prefer a definitive answer rather than wondering, and I bet you do too. She's in very good hands - yours and the vets taking care of her and that makes her a lucky girl. I agree with AB. No reason to be discouraged yet. Hugs and please keep us updated.

Heartworm Disease. All her tests are negative but the microfilaria are unfortunately heartworms. Very upset at this time. Trying to figure out options and where to go from here on out:( Poor girl.
