This Is What I Love About My EM

Well...there are several things. But, one of the things I love the most is that every night Max will walk to my bed, check on me, make the rounds throughout the house, come back and check on me one more time, then go back to bed. He does this at least two times each night. What do you love most about your mastiff?

BTW, I adopted Max from a friend last Dec. who was going through a divorce and couldn't keep him any longer. We have bonded like glue, and I can't imagine that I am not the one who raised him. We have become SUPER tight.

My favorite thing about my mastiff is when I come home and he just get so happy to see me, jumping around and licking me, it can make any bad day better

I love that I can ask either one of my girls to do something and no matter if it isn't something they are sure about they do it because I ask. Their love in un-conditional!

I love how my corso will try to sit on my lap of I'm sitting on the floor and then look back lovingly in my eyes :)

I also like that I can walk him at 2 in the morning and he will keep his eyes locked on anyone around until they are out of sight....if they start walking toward me and I am unsure of them, he can sense it and just gives a deep growl as if to say "maybe you should cross the street" ;)

I have a Bullmastiff and she also patrols the house at night when I go to bed. But the thing I love the most is the greeting when I come home. She's not happy till she get to cuddle up to me, puts her head on my chest under my chin and gives kisses.

Easier to say what I don't love. Two a day poop collection, everyday vaccuum and mop, when every dog in the neighborhood decides to bark together for no apparent reason. Most everything else is awesome.

I love it when Lillie runs to great me and then she leans on me until she melts to the floor. She is a big baby. I love everything about her.

They are a wonderful breed but take your time, do your research and when you are ready the right puppy will be waiting for you ;)

I have been researching them for around four months now. I was actually sitting back waiting for "funding" and a reputable CC breeder to find a way into my life when my friend (well, actually a friend of a friend) heard about me wanting a mastiff and offered her EM to me due to divorce. Since I am a good ways off from purchasing a corso, I excepted him with open arms. I have not regretted it one moment. However, I still yearn for my corso. I will be picky. I have been amazed at the lack of quality in the corso out there. Back yarders are making a mockery of the breed. Simply amazed that some people are actaully calling what they have CC's. There are several good breeders out there, I know. My heart is set on a Windy Pine.

Bonnie from WindyPine is an AWESOME breeder! I do not think you can go wrong with a pup from her. :) Good choice.
And no, I do not have one of her dogs, but she is a friend. I did meet her and her dogs at the Corso Nationals last year in St Louis, and she is a great person who truly cares about the breed. I am in love with the pups from her last litter, but I am biased, the male Bonnie used is my breeders dog :)

She is as ethical as they come. She health screens, shows, Temperament tests, and competes in OB trials with her dogs, not just makes claims of doing so on her website ;)
I agree, you have to be picky, it is shocking what some people are claiming as breeding stock out there. The Corso as far as type is all over the place, sounds however, like you have done your homework.

lots of good replies so far, i especially agree about enjoying the final "night patrol" and what its like when you get home. i have a lot more to add but here are a few most favorites.

- going to the park, seeing him so happy and smiling

- going ice fishing across the street, having yogi tow out all our gear.

- naps

- seeing a 160lb puppy roll over for a treat
