It is official we have had our first snow day. Yesterday we got to see some of the white stuff falling from the sky. The dogs didn't care for the white stuff falling from the sky. It was wet like rain but colder. No fun. They refused to poop. None of that snow stuck. Well since the dogs refused to poop they woke us at 3am needing to... you guessed it, Poop! So up we got at 3 am and out we went and to our shock everything was covered in thick white fluffy cold stuff. Over an inch of snow over night! The stuff was no longer falling from the sky and the dogs just started going crazy. Running circles. Leaping. Jumping on each other. Jumping on the ground and more running.. Endless endless running. I took pictures. Lots of pictures. By noon it started melting off. We still have snow but you can see bits of the ground here and there. On the up side it helps me make trails through the yard where I can step knowing there is not hidden poo. On the downside it was far more picturesque with a full inch of snow. So pictures! Here are pictures of my dogs being every so thrilled with snow and a few I added just because - pretty. Snow Day! OMG SNOW!!! Must run and grin! Lots of grinning! Please release me to play. Please please don't make me wait. In this one you can see the snow has started to melt away but this is my new all time favorite. Running with a snow covered football in her mouth. More big grins
Those are great pictures, as usual, Nik. I'm glad they enjoyed the snow. Every year mine forget about snow and rediscover the joy of romping in it. Well, not Roy. He's a baby. Our 6-8 inches just melted and we're due for an ice storm to hit in about an hour. I'd much rather have the snow.
Great action shots! We got 5 inches here in Seattle on Sunday night/ Monday morning... Denna LOVES the cold fluffy stuff. She'd stay outside all day if I let her - but it's COLD out there! This morning (Tuesday) we woke up to temps in the teens. Not quite "polar vortex" cold... but COLD for Seattle! Another system is supposedly on the way for Thu/Fri this week, too. I might have to break out the snowshoes!
Polar vortex, lol. It was pretty darn cold here last week. -23F with a wind chill of around -53F. And then three days later we were in the 50's. Crazy stuff.
Lettie loves the snow and the cold. Something about the snow seems to give most dogs the zoomies! I live near Boxergirl and last week when the temps were at the lowest, we still had to literally DRAG Lettie inside! She wanted to stay outside and play and eat snow/ice. But at temps that low, they were warning not to be out/leave animals out for more than 2-3 minutes.
Boxergirl - Brr that is cold! And here I thought the 23 degrees I woke up to this morning was cold. And I was teasing my boss yesterday for complaining about the 49 degree weather back in California. I guess it is all relative! Here I was thinking how much tougher I am here in Portland than my California cohort and then you mention the negatives. Yup not so tough after all. rofl Dennasmom - Thanks! I couldn't get them to stay still for the life of me. They just wanted to play and run and run more. I was watching with envy as my Seattle friends were posting their snow pictures before we got our snow. But, we were right behind you. It looks like we have a lot more snow headed our way starting saturday. Monday they are even predicting 6 inches! For someone who has never seen snow fall from the sky until this week that's huge. lol Jarena - I have the same experience trying to get them to come inside from the snow. This is the look of disappointment I would get from Kahlua when I would tell her time to go in. And then they would go running away. And of course I couldn't chase after because of the hidden poo in the snow and the not wanting to slip and fall in the slippery stuff. Well if what they say about six inches of snow is true expect a lot of pictures next week sometime.
