Tape ears or leave alone? (with a pic)

Hi everyone. Beretta just got her stitches out. It has been about 10 days since the crop. I know if I do tape her ears, we need to wait until the edges are completely healed, but I am wondering if you think it will even be needed. She is about 11 weeks old. Should I stick to massage and wait until teething is over? Or tape as a precaution, the one ear is folded over quite a bit. Hoping for some experienced opinions, we are new to this. TIA!

In the three that I have had done the vet reposted them after they took the stitches out. I have not had any problems

After seeing lots of crop jobs with Danes and crop flops... I would tape as a precaution. Better to go through the hassle of taping for a few months or even weeks then have a crop you are unhappy with at maturity. Maybe your vet could do the first posting and you could just keep up with that.

I left my CC's alone for a few weeks after her crop. Because they weren't standing AT ALL I decided to tape them. We posted her ears until she was almost 6 months old! I can't say whether or not the posting really did help that much though. I personally wouldn't tape your pups ears for a few more weeks.

I'd like to add though that if you want to post them then go for it. It personally was a big pain for Stella and myself and i don't know if all the posting necessary. I wish I would have been more patient and saved myself and Stella the headache of posting lol. She hated the posts and it took me a while to get good at posting them myself. Also, her right ear stood about 3 weeks before her right ear. Some people say that as long as the vet did a proper crop you really shouldn't have to post as they will eventually stand. This applies to CC crop though, not a Dane or boxer crop (which are much longer and require posting).

Furthermore, sometimes the ears will be standing for a while with mo issues and then they will just suddenly flop over again for a little while.

Your dogs ears ended up beatuiful!! Thank you everyone. I am going to try the molefoam method. Taping looks like a PITA, to be honest. But if we have to, we will.

I would tape them up, even if for only a couple days at a time. Our vet actually recommended that we allow some time to breathe between the post/taping.

My hubby is reading over my shoulder and commented that Beretta's ears looked just like our Cheeno's post-crop and said to just give it time.

haha! thank you. They have gotten much worse. completely folded over with a large crease developing. I think we decided to try the mole foam method. I am waiting to get the surgical glue in the mail. If that doesn't work, I will probably tape for a short while.

Well that didn't go well at all. Tried the molefoam. First I spilled the skin bond on my carpet, then when I put it in her ears she went insane screaming at the top of her lungs. Shes VERY vocal and dramatic so I have no idea if it was hurting her or she just didnt like it but it sounded like we were trying to kill her. So we took them off right away and now I am trying to get the skin bond off of her. Guess we will have to try regular taping methods, if she doesnt freak out about those.

IMO I don't think you need to post. If the vet did a good job you will be fine...it's very common for a corso to look this way after the ears are done. Give it some time, but if you feel more comfortable have the vet tape them.

I don't think you need to post, but do what makes you the most comfortable. It won't hurt but be aware that they may go up then flop again between 4-6 months when teething :)

Ok. Well we would rather leave them alone, as long as they don't end up funky. So if by 6 months they aren standing, do we have the option of posting then? Here are recent pics from last weekend.

6 months might be a bit late to start to post them. I would error on the side of caution and try to at least give them some support. It can't hurt.
