Just saw on my local Craigslist there is an under a year old, revers brindle, male Bullmastiff for sale...

How much? 50 bucks!

Why? ... Animal aggressive outside of his property.

This is HARD!.

Is there any way to get this boy into rescue?

I would hate for their use of the term dog aggressive to attract the wrong people...

Oh you have no idea how much I'm brainstorming right now. The location he's in is a very small town about 3-4 hours from me. My wife says do what I want. I don't want him to go to a questionable home. My ex might be interested, but doesn't want to take that trip. There's so rarely a bull available here.

Just so many things to ponder.

The main thing, yeah, I'm worried about where he could go. Whatever intentions the new owner might have. You could have the best intentions and be seriously surprised when it doesn't work out how you think it will.

My first Bull was intensely dog aggressive, I've been down that road. And I've also learned you can deal with it with training.

Uhg... too many things..

I did some googling and couldn't find any Bullmastiff rescue listed in Alaska. There is a number for a contact in neighboring British Columbia, though: http://www.canadogs.com/Rescue.htm#B If you scroll down to Bullmastiff there is a name and contact info for the BC/AB area. Maybe they can help.

What a sucky situation. :(

I appreciate that. See, I wouldn't give away something I am completely able to care for myself. That's my dilemma.

I could go on all night.
I've decided I'm going to take the drive tomorrow, at least it gets me out of town. :)

AKBull, I didn't gather from your post that you were aiming to get him into rescue as a first resort, but into your pack :) I hope it works out well for the dog and for you! Please keep us posted. Looking forward to hearing back from you!

Sorry for the update delay.
The owners decided to keep the dog. They're going to neuter him and install a fence around their property.

It was exciting around my place for a little while at least! :)

She did say that if things don't work out they will get in touch with me.

Thanks for the update! Glad to hear that he will be neutered. Did they decide before or after your 4 hour drive? I'm sorry it didn't go your way, but he does look happy where he is!

I'm actually not bummed in the least. :) (maybe just a teensie bitty bit)
It sounds like his owners got some advice and I'm for it working out for them.

And they told me before I took the trip. ;)

Right because mastiffs are used for dog fighting?? People are so naive, there's only one breed in the dog fighting world.

Actually, Bantu, people have used the big dogs as practice because they can endure a lot of punishment.

Actually, Tosa's are also in the "dog fighting world." But that is a moot point. People can use whatever they want as bait, in the pit, or on the streets.

Yes, there is only one breed in the dog fighting world, just like anyone who would own a Lab/Staffie cross must be a drug dealer because the breed is used for retrieving drugs.:D I know, we should just make a list of the funny things Bantu says as I am sure he is here for comedic value. :p
