Switching food=diarrhea

And she has not gained an ounce since we switched food. Is this normal? She has gotten taller but no weight gain in two weeks......

It looks like she has gotten taller. On August 19th she weighed in at 88.5 lbs and yesterday she was 86.4.

It could be the heat too causing her not to eat so much. Titan has cut back on his food a little. I wouldn't be concerned unless the weight loss continues.

The strange part is, she is eating everything in her bowl. I have bumped her food up 1/2 cup, since she is always hungry, but still loosing weight. Now when I think about it, she did loose almost 4 lbs at the beginning of the switch, so I guess she has gained 2 lbs in two weeks. I guess the off/on diarrhea could have something to do with it. She is still acting normal, eating, drinking etc, so I should probably not worry too much......I just LOVE this little girl to pieces....

I don't know if this applies but when I first switched Kryten's food he lost weight and was acting as if I was starving him. When I checked the calorie level of the new and old foods I discovered that by feeding the recommended amounts for each, the new food has very poor guidelines for puppies, he was only getting 2/3 the number of calories that he had been getting. Once I increased to amount to equalize the calories he went back to his regular growth pattern.

The food Sadie was on has a lower calorie content than the food she is on now (Castor & Pollux vs. Earthborn). So, I am not sure what is up with that. It just does not make any sense at all......

Daisy is always starving too if you ask her. Around meal times she is a monster till she gets fed but she was 125 lbs at 10.5 months and seems to be going ok.

I was going to suggest taking a stool sample to your vet to make sure she doesn't have worms. Sometimes these are the symptoms.

I feel your pain. We are going to the same thing with Brinks. He's doing better on Flagyl and eating a bland diet but his weight has been stable. I am a complete worry wart so it's been a stressful month - my only saving grace is my patient husband and supportive vet staff assuring me that he'll be ok. He tested negative for worms and giardia and improves very quickly on Flagyl so we are also researching foods and hoping to get past this. Hang in there and sending good thoughts your way!:)

I hate that she is having such a hard time! Cruiser has been a food and allergy nightmare. All of my other OEM's were easy and could eat anything. Cruiser seems to be allergic to everything! His beautiful coat looks like crap at the moment, he has chewed himself up. We finally have solid stool and the scratching has almost subsided. He was fine until Friday when I added egg to his dinner like a dope. The the pooping started again! So I can cross of eggs, pb, potatos, chicken, anything containing sugar......uuuggghhhh! Add grass allergies to that as well! I guess we will eventually get him figured out. I want that beautiful coat back.

I went through this with Luna and I too am a poop nazi ( i inspect and count to make sure shes going) and I couldnt take it any more so I got her poop sample and yep it was worms and nothing in her stool. They all started coming out after her meds from the vet. I also gave her rice and boiled chicken for a few days with the flagyl, then little by little added in her food. She is on Earthborn also and is doing great. every so often she get diarrhea so I try to watch everything she consumes, cause when she gets sick of course i find out later the kids dropped something on the floor that she licked up. You'll get there.
