Thank you for the support, it's comforting to know that others think I'm making the right decision as well.

I am incredibly sorry to hear this... There aren't really a whole lot of words of support that will help, I just hope the medication props him up for as long as possible. At this stage all you want is time. Know my heart weighs heavy for you guys...

You know I've been there, and I can say I wouldn't go the chemo route again.

    Stay strong.

Thank you. I've heard the same from other people about chemo and never putting their pups through that again. I want him to have the best quality of life for what's left and putting him through treatment is just not going to give him that quality of life he deserves.

Has it been 7 years already?? Jake's a lucky dog to have been able to spend that time with such a loving, fun family!
I know you'll give him as many good days as possible, even with an ugly cancer diagnosis. Boo!

My sister's husky had osteocarcoma, she opted for "hospice care"... lots of good pain meds. No surgery, no chemo. The vet gave her a 2 month prognosis, and that pup enjoyed her pain meds so much, she bounced around another 2 years!
Sending you and Jake lots of love and support!

I'm really hoping that Jake does well on the meds and will last longer than we expect. He's had some good days this week that make me hopeful.

Marke, I'm truly sorry that you've had to deal with this horror and I'm twice as sorry for you and your family to have to face it yet again.

The only person who can truly comment is the person who has walked in your shoes, felt your pain, and done the best that they could do against such unusually high odds: Anyone who has mirrored that experience wouldn't second guess you, they would honour you and support you. This is not a road that anyone walks easily, it's the hardest work, the hardest climb, the hardest wishing and hoping and then it is the acceptance and the deep abiding sea of love that carries you to the last breath. We all rage against the dying of the light, but with our dogs, the light never really leaves, it glows within us, it sustains us. Within our hearts and minds, they are forever healthy, forever young and forever loved and forever at our sides. Never fear, when you open your eyes on the other side, Jake will be there and he will thank you for keeping him from further pain and suffering. He knows how much you love him...he's not afraid because you are with him.

Very well said Bailey's Mom! I do believe our pets stick with us.

And Marke we're all here for you....wishing, hoping and prying for your boy, your family and for you to have many more moments to create wonderful memories.

Thank you all for your concern and support. This awful disease is beginning to take it's toll on Jake already. He's gone from 155 pounds down to 136 pounds since April (he's lost 11 since our diagnosis on August 1) and seems to be losing more on a daily basis. He's starting to lose his strength in his back legs also and struggled a little getting into my SUV. I know his time is short and it's breaking my heart to see him deteriorating like this and so quickly. He's still eating and drinking and going potty outside, he still loves to meet everyone and visit and get pets and hugs so as far as I can tell he's still got a good quality of life, he just can't talk to me and tell me what he's really feeling, but I see it in his eyes at times. My husband is away next week so we are just hoping to get him through next week and have one last weekend together then we will re-evaluate his situation and try to make this decision. We both agree that we will not let him suffer and would rather have this done sooner than wait too long.

I'm sorry, Jakesmum. Every single thing about this just sucks. Remember that even though things are slow around here right now, there's usually someone around if you need an ear while your husband is gone - or at any time. My thoughts remain with your family.

Im so sorry your going through this, everyone of us knows the heartbreak your going through right now, i think we all wish and wish they would just fall asleep in our arms and pass peacefully without us making that decision for them but when that cant happen we are showing them the most loving act we could ever show them,
My thoughts are with you and your family,
