Have been looking for a mastiff for year and a half. But as yall know getting money to buy a pure breed pup is expensive. Got a dog from the shelter ,but the Lab kept jumping my fence . Was afraid he was going to hurt himself or worse get hit! Took him back to the shelter even after trying to modify fence....lots of cash on that mistake. But I kept on looking for the right one

I know I yearned for a mastiff though in my heart.
After almost given up hope....I received a call from a house down the road from mine....which they now have a final sell pending in june! They asked if I knew anyone that would like to have a 2 yr bullmastiff pup ......I said do I ever !!!!!
For the past two weeks have been transitioning him to my house....walking Atticus every day when I get home ....after I leave him to his house.....I drove by and saw him sitting on his haunches in front of the glass door ....waiting for me again....this dog is great loves cats other dogs......can't wait for a sleep over soon.....

Congrats she's beautiful, please don't take offense but I wouldn't let your son hug her, she looks unsure, give her time to settle in to your family,

Dogs have to be taught that a hug is a good thing... their instincts are that it's confinement and something to get rid of, quick. I agree, Atticus looks a bit unsure of that hug.

Does the dog know any tricks?
I'd have your son teach him some tricks. They should be simple in the beginning, so both the dog and your son can be successful.

You can also enroll in a training class, and have your son go along.

Just walking together is great bonding time, too. Try to convince your son to take things slow - the dog is in for some major life changes, and all the new stuff needs time to sink in.

It might be a good idea to get your son a book or video on dog behavior, so he can learn 'doggie communication' and understand what Atticus is trying to say through body-language. Nothing better (in my opinion) than education to help them understand each other and start a great life together.

I'm sure others here will have some good advice to add.

That's a beautiful dog!! Congratulations!
