Has any purchased a CC from Shipley Cane Corso or have any feedback on them? I'm having a hard time finding any reviews on the breeder except for what they have on their website. Any information helps! Thank you!

To the best of my knowledge they do no health testing and aren't active in the breed. They claim you can't find a dog cheaper than their dogs but there are more reputable breeders that health test with correct dogs that are active in the breed that would be a better choice. Shipley as long as you have the $$ they will sell you a dog.

Hi I have a cane corso from Shipley’s. The owner was very responsive prior to purchasing the dog but after you get the dog they ignore any of your inquires. I wish I did better when it came to researching them before purchasing

I am sorry to hear this, it is something that to be honest I am not surprised to hear as it has been said on many of the corso pages on FB.

    Hello,

I'm currently in the process of purchasing a puppy from Shipley Cane Corso and I was wondering if you had any other specific information about instances wit this breeder I'm not really sure if they are reputable and can not find an other info besides what they provide. I do not see anything on their Facebook page just their own post. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

You can ask on many of the pages about Shipley and get people that have dealt with them. I haven't looked at them personally as breeders as they don't hold an interest for me but if memory serves (you can always ask them and double check this stuff) they do not health test any of their stock which when you are paying what they are charging for pups should be a given to at least have the basics of hips checked. They do nothing with their dogs outside of breed, which means it is a income business for them as they are not putting any expense out for these animals. Many pet people use the argument "well I don't plan to show so don't care about show or working titles" but they don't understand that the reason behind this also shows their breeder is investing back into their program and putting them out there to show conformation/structure and temperament is right for the breed.

One of the most recent stories I heard was they were charging $3500/pup and claimed you could not get a quality corso for that which is plain rubbish. You can easily get a correct corso, from health tested parent that is stable and temperament tested parents for less than that usually.

What makes it easy for them to sell is we are a society of immediate gratification (this isn't aimed at you but is a general observation) and when we want something we want it now and a new puppy is no different so we look for homes that have puppies when we want them rather than find a good breeder that is worried about the future of the breed and waiting until they have a litter that is suitable for us.

Not sure If it is the same people I am thinking of, but if I'm correct there around Colrain/Cinci Ohio area?

If It's who I think it is, I would advise avoiding them, as there all about the money.

If you do get a pup from them make sure to get any worries in writing.

Ok it's who I think it is, there last video on there page should show how much they lack common sence along with how much bs they talk.

Any breeder that promotes a child riding on the back of a dog is a big no no for me

Hi Valerie. We ended up purchasing from Shipley and it worked out well. They were responsive and extremely helpful. I haven't had to contact them after we received our pup as we have had other CC's and are familiar with the breed. Our pup is 5 months old now and her temperament is perfect, we couldn't ask for a better dog (plus, shes absolutely beautiful).

We just purchased a cc from Shipleys and was promised he would email us her shot and worm records and hasn't happened and he has not responded to phone calls or texts. She is a beautiful dog, but not sure how reputable he is now! Also, he promises a 2yr guarantee on hips, but had his brother meet for drop off who then said he forgot it and Justin would email everything to us. Having many doubts about this breeder!

Hopefully it does work out but there are far more red flags from this breeder than not. I also don't understand a health guarantee when they don't health screen their dogs... they don't know what they are starting with so how can they guarantee anything.

He has finally emailed us the paperwork and yes he gives all the shots himself, puppy has not been seen by a vet but will this week by ours. Hoping everything goes well, she appears to be very smart and is a beautiful dog. My husband, who helped train German Shepards in the Army likes the way she looks and responds already for her age. She is just over 11 wks old and already watches everything our boys do!

I am glad that you have gotten your paperwork. Until she has been seen by the vet be cautious of what/who you expose her too and make sure to take the records with you so the vet can determine if she needs anything else while there.

    Good luck with her.

    Th
Thanks! Our vet likes the way she looks and says she checks out. She'll go back in a few weeks for next vaccine.

I would advise not purchasing from Shipley Cane Corso, they put the incorrect fathers name on birth certificate on registration forms, get your dogs hips inspected ASAP. Mine has the worst Hip Dysplasia I have seen. When I contacted Shipley they never responded until after I threatened to contact BBB and ICCF then their response was "sorry". He has had to have cherry eye surgery, mange, temperamental issues even after socialization from 8 weeks - over 2 years and I have attached a copy of his hips. This is my 2nd Corso but the 1st was from a much more reputable breeder and had none of the health issues. Justin Shipley never actually meets you when they deliver your pup he will claim its his brother and they don't want you coming to their onsite facility which to me raises doubt and suspicion.

Ouch I am sorry to hear that Brian. Unfortunately these are the stories I tend to here most in association to Shipley.

while those hips are pretty bad , with the proper therapy/rehab/work , i believe , and have had dogs with similar hips live decent lives ........ while this is bordering on severe , and very well may end up severe , at the point of this x-ray i would think this is moderate hd .........

sounds like you got it under control , the supplement works best is keep his rear strong with lots of low impact exercise , lots of walking hills , slow trotting , keep him moving .... when dogs with hips like that get overweight and out of shape they're pretty much done ..... if i were home i'd post you a pic of a 12yr old dog and his 2yr x-ray with very similar hip type , also his 11yr old sister is just a bit better ........ i use phycox , same stuff i'm sure , i've used other stuff , i think was as good , it just appeared to me for the dosage it was cheaper than the others i tried ......
