So there is no uniformity for this breed yet? I see short muzzle like a mastiff, then longer like a wolf or wolf hound. Short legs, then long legs, short body then longer body. Roni looks just like a Boerboel and Suri looks like a Shephard Rottweiller mix. For me the best would be like Roni but all black. But out of all the pictures and videos you post they all hardly look like they are from the same breed.

Breed will be uniform, it just takes time.Except for the color, heads of dogs are more and more uniform, I do not know where you saw the short legs, except perhaps for a puppy that is still growing. All breeds have changed look through time.Only a matter of time before the SDD be completely uniform.

"The Serbian Defense Dog is a re-creation of the old Serbian Mastiff of the Middle Ages, which became extinct during the early 20th century. Initially disregarded as yet another "cocktail" breed, the SDD is today deservedly a well-known and respected guardian in its native Yugoslavia. It was developed by Nenad Gavrilovic, a Bosnian herbalist and medicine man in the early 1980's, but the final standard was written in 1991. Using his domesticated pack of Serbian wolves, working Bosnian Tornjaks, German Rottweilers, Neapolitan Mastiffs, American Staffordshire Terriers and game-bred Pit Bull Terriers, Gavrilovic created a breed of immense physical strength, fantastic guarding instincts and impressive fighting abilities. Even though it wasn't created with the intention of being a gladiator, the Serbian Defense Dog has achieved legendary status in the dog-fighting circles for being an undefeatable canine warrior. Initial stock was indeed tested in a traditional method of matching potential stud dogs against a number of breeds, but once the bravest and strongest examples were selected for further breeding, no further competitions were held. However, the notoriety of early SOPs as excellent fighters made the breed popular with the criminal element in the Balkans, in whose grip the breed received not only some additional blood of other breeds, but also somewhat of a bad name. Routinely defeating even the most tenacious Pit-Bulls and other fighting breeds, it is believed by many to be unfair matching the Srpski Odbrambeni Pas against any dogs other than members of its own breed, but some fanciers consider this ability to actually be a detractor from other qualities the breed possesses, because the Serbian Defense Dog is a versatile Molosser, capable of handling a great number of duties with ease, as well as being a wonderful urban companion for reponsible owners."

Nenad Gavrilović and we breeders prefer more substance (the character) but form.
Character education in dogs is the most difficult and the easiest gets lost.
I hope that you understand my Tarzan english.

so what would happen if a stranger comes up to you very calmly with a gun and calmly asks you for your money?... that is how people get robbed in broad daylight.

My Rott was like a Great Fila then. My Rott actually taught me what I needed to do. I remeber a friend of mine was coming over to the house. I waited outside for him with my dog on a leash. He had never seen my Rott. He started walking towards me and we said nothing to each other as he approached because we were both just looking at my dog. He got to about ten feet away from me and my dog charged him. I learned that day that I need to engage my friends from a distance in friendly conversation so that my dog knows they are cool people. If someone was to approach me, if I didnt acknowledge them, my dog would stop them at least 8 feet before they got to me. This was never taught, this was just me teaching him to obey and showing him tons of love. I think thats how it should be.

Another time my brother took a guy into our back yard to look at our fence. My Rott stayed by my brothers side in between the two of them. The guy pointed out something and his hand was close to my brothers head. My Rott jumped up and snapped right below his arm simultaneously as the man pointed. The guy pulled away and my brother just put his hand on Judah's back and was like its ok Judah and my Rott was chill. My brother saw the whole thing and swears Judah missed on purpose, but was more like saying get back from my master. Another time I had a friend over who was fresh out of jail. My Rott went up to him and sat next to him and started stairing at him. My boy flexed at him and my rott put his mouth around his arm, but didnt bite down. My boy started petting him and said I aint messing with this dog, hes real, and my dog let go like "just letting you know Im down for whatever". Dog was super smart and read people like books.
