  • Welcome back!

We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

See you later Max.

I've been on writing this for hours because I don't know what to say.

Today I took Max to the vet for the last time.
He passed away in my arms at about a quarter to six.
He did get a little stressed but the vet gave him a sedative before shaving his leg and putting him to sleep.

I'll update this tomorrow when I'm in the right state of mind.

@CJ: It broke my heart to read your post. My heart truly goes out to you. What a horrendous loss. I wish I could post some wise epithet, but I can't because I imagine the loss is pretty exquisite right now. My best wishes and prayers go out to you right now.

Nothing I write will make it better. I'm so sorry. It was so obvious how much you loved that boy, even if it was a short time for you together. Heartbroken for you...

It seems so hard to lose a good friend like Max.
I have heard so much about Max that I feel like I knew him and share your loss.
Run free Max, via con Dios.

My heart is breaking for you.

I'm so sorry. I never know what to say in these horrible situations.

Nothing I can say will ease your heartache and emptiness.

It's hard, so, so hard.

Max had the best time of his life with you, I hope you remember that...

Peace to you.

I am so, so sorry. I know there's nothing I can say that is going to lessen the grief you're feeling, but my thoughts are with you.

I've broken twice tonight.
Threw myself at parenting all weekend to keep my mind off it (beer haloed after kids bed time too) but I've come home to an empty house.
Rain on the roof sounded like nails on the floor and when I went to the kitchen I held up my hand to say "wait" to a big empty spot on the sofa.

How terrible for you. Each of us dreads the day that we all know will come and we will take the last painful walk with our beloved pets.

I am not familiar with all of your history, but I have enjoyed your stories and how dedicated you have been to your old boy. You made his last months and days happy ones. Not many people would try as hard as you did to rehabilitate their dog. I hope and pray that you will one day open your doors again to another Mastiff...a child-friendly little fellow to brighten your life. But for now, mourn and remember...we mourn with you.

You have an empty place on your couch and an empty place in your heart and many of us have been there where you are now. For me the only way I could heal was to bring another pup into my life, not to replace the pal that was lost but to fill that emptiness in the heart and house.
When my old Chesapeake bay retriever went down I waited 6 months to get another dog, it was the saddest most lonely time of my life, and I had my wife and children but there is a place in the heart and mind that can only be filled by a dog.
I lost both of my German Shorthaired pointers within 2 weeks of one another and the pain was so bad I didn't wait two weeks before I found my CC zoey and the pain of losing my boys was eased.
You will never forget Max and you will never replace Max but I'm sure Max would approve and want your heart to heal he wouldn't want you to be sad and alone.
