Scab like places on neck?

James, I completely forgot about comfortis! I was using it a few years back & had no problems with it. I don't think my vet sells it, but I'm thinking I can order it from their online pharmacy. Are you giving it in conjunction with heartworm preventative? Duchess is on Revolution & I left my little dog on Sentinel even though the plant shut down. Really the only size sentinel I was able to find was the 2-10 lbs otherwise I would've preferred to put Duchess on that. Haven't heard anything about when they plan to reopen the plant yet.

I ask bc we are having the worst time with fleas. I notice all the dogs including my parents dogs are itchy but every time I thoroughly check them over I find nothing. The other day I gave Duchess a bath & found 2 fleas on her but they were moving really slow so I think they were about to die. This was after we had bombed the house, cleaned every square inch of the house, treated the yard & treated the dogs. I honestly think they're getting them from my parents neighbors yorkies as those people's house, back yard & dogs are just disgusting. Was thinking about sprinkling a 7 dust barrier on that side of the fence & seeing if that helped. Such a PITA!!

The weird part is, when my parents dogs have fleas, you know they do. You can see them everywhere! I gave Bruno his first bath last night and although I found flea poop on him, I didn't see a single flea! (granted I may have missed one or two, though) I hate fleas!

when Juno had that spot on her leg the other week the vet told me to make sure she didn't develop anymore anywhere else as it could be a sign of Demodex. Scared the snots out of me. Just some info I thought I would pass on. We give our dogs Comfortis from the vet. we went with Comfortis because the fleas are so bad this year nothing else was working.

What is demodex??

I can't remember the heart worm pill Juno takes, I think it's heartgard. Honestly I can't remember right off the top as we argued a little about the flea meds. They wanted me to use vectra? again or something like that but it wasn't working on my other dog and then a lot of names went by. I believe the vectra though was topical. However, the Comfortis is working great. There was a reason we didn't go with the 3 in 1 pill. I wanted to treat the house, yard, and dogs. Best was to do Comfortis for 30 days and then heartpill, for both dogs.

bruno12 it probably isn't that but it seems mastiffs can get it easier. I had to read about it when the vet said the word "Demodex". It's a scary word, but if it continues to spread I would take him in. Oh yea, the "Dawn" dish washing liquid to kill fleas is GREAT like musicdeb said, use just the regular blue.

If it was demodex you would notice thinning areas of fur that have a moth eaten look. Luna actually has a mild case of demodex right now on top of her head and 2 small spots on her shoulders. The skin won't looks scabby.. This is Luna's head..

I know this is an older thread but my dog has those spots that Luna has. Two of them actually. What did you do to get rid of them? Thanks in advance.
