I had a bad Experiance with this Breeder in Spain . Anyone concidering buying a pup from the please beware and if anyone has information as to how i can report her behviour please let me know Take a minute to read my story .

I Have to post this so as I might prevent anyone else from going through the same traumatic experience that my family have with Rothorm .

We lost our Dog a few months back and found it hard to deal with having 4 very young kids who were struggling to get over the loss of our beloved hound. She fell ill and over the period of one month we had countless visits to the vets and operations to try and fix her but in the end we could do nothing but watch her die.

I decided to help pick up the mood of the family by introducing a new Puppy to it so made the mistake of contacting Rothorm (Montse as she is called). I explained the situation and how the dog would be coming to a loving home who had just lost its pet and she agreed to sell us a puppy. We selected the little fellow and paid the 1500 euro’s to have him sent from Barcelona to Almeria. Once the pup was on route we received an email telling us how the pup might catch a cold on the way down as the driver may have his AC on to high so she was sending some meds(turned out to be for humans) with him just in case. When my wife went to pick him up she was appalled as the 22kg 4 month old pup fell out from a cage that could barely hold a cat. His muzzle was covered in scars and his ears weren’t cropped but looked to be hacked off and were uneven. My wife took him straight to the vets who discovered the pup had a severe chest infection so called the breeder so she could explain, she denied he had anything wrong of course but the vet had told my wife this wouldn’t happen during the delivery.

The pup was taken back to our home and was adorned with love that day but the next day he could barely breath and was in some discomfort, again my wife rushed him to the vets to have him attended to where he received more medication and an X-Ray of his chest .When the results came back it was confirmed that the pup had pneumonia

The Pup now has to stay in the surgery for the next 48 Hr and we have been told it is 50-50 that he will live. We are living the same nightmare we were trying to get over and I fear my children will be effected by these memories for the rest of their days.

My vet nor me can get hold of Montse the Breeder as she hangs up the phone and won’t answer emails, it looks like her callous actions will go unanswered for now . I hope the little fellow makes it through as he has been a pleasure to have if he doesn’t I don’t know how we will feel.

Please stay away from this Breeder Rothorm and this nasty Woman Montse

The little fella pulled through and is heading back home to us . He's a little soldier . My Vets have tried to get hold of xxx but to no avail. She is also ignoring my emails and calls. The next step
I will be taking is to try and get something done about this breeder, there must be some code of conduct that she should be following even in Spain. I guess my Solicitor will find out. The care she had shown for this dogs welfare was appalling. I am not niave as to think she breeds dogs for the good of the Breed, she breeds them for profit I understand that but she has a duty to care for all the pups that she breeds, not just the ones she can take to shows

Well clearly this is a horrible situation, but I am glad you folks have gotten the pup cared for and taken him in, it sounds like without you he would have had a bleak outlook on life. Was there any type of contract signed with the breeder? If so I assume there was some type of wording in there stating the pup would be healthy when received.

Just emails and trust I am afraid, although the emails do show a good few lies and the Vets testimonies and diagnosis could hurt Rothorm. I suppose you live you learn.
When people are trying to con you they are always lovely and then when their mission is complete they just disappear like a fart in the wind. It would be interesting to find out if anyone out here has purchased from her and how things panned out.

Im sorry you had a bad experience. Im glad the pup pulled through. Hopefully it wont be long before you can look at her without thinking what you went thru with the breeder.

Hello,
I'm Montse, and I breed cane corso. My kennel name is Rothorm.
I've been told for different people about this treat.

First thing I would like to say, is than is very easy to destroy the reputation of someone who is working for the breed for more than 14 years as you can see here, you just need 5 minutes in front of the computer.

Also for the people who is reading, before to give your opinion, I think is necessary to know the version of both parts. Only doing like this, you could have and give a correct opinion.

About the treat you can read here:
It is really long to explain everything, so, I will make a resum, but if someone want more information, I'm open to answer all your questions:

This puppy was send by an Spanish transport specialist in animals: MRW.
The day before, i was in my veterinary with the puppy to make the health certificate than is necessary for travel.
He visited the puppy and everything was perfect. This certificate is inside the passport of the puppy and the owner have it.
I bringed myself the puppy to the office of the transport, and they accepted him. I must told here, than in the reception of the animals, MRW don't have a veterinary, but the person who receipt the puppy will never take a dog who showed problems of any signals of illness.
Then, the puppy arrives to Barcelona central, where there are veterinaries, who will refuse the transport of the puppy if he will show any sign of illness.
The puppy arrived to the new owner, and automatically they went for a first visit to the veterinary. The veterinary call me directly in my mobil phone and tell me the puppy has arrived perfect, but with a little bit cought, and the same veterinary explained me than this could be very normal if the puppy had vomit during the transport.
When I send a puppy by MRW, because they travel with other animals and because of my experience, I prefer to send them with an extra treatmeant for fleas (pills) and some antibiotic (give it by my veterinary).
The veterinary who received the puppy asked me as I send antibiotic, if the puppy was under medication, and I answered than no, I just send it with the puppy, because puppy was arriving to new owner on saturday, (and in Spain most of veterinaires and shops could be close or with reduced open times), so I prefer always to send (antibiotic and pills for fleas) just in case is necessary.
The veterinary make me a very strange question, because she was repeating the puppy was PERFECT. She asked me in case of need of veterinarian cares who will pay for it. I was a little bit suprise for the question, so I asked, ¿What's happens? and when she feel my surprise, she told me than the question was made by the owner....

All saturday and sunday pass and I got no more news.
On monday I started a travel to Italy and I got no internet connexion until thursday.
On Thrursday I got connexion and I went to read my mails. I found different mails from the owner, telling me the puppy was not ok and than I was not a good breeder because I was not answering.
I was still in Italy, I asked please, to give me the certificate of the veterinary to try to understand what was happening, and also to give this certificate to my veterinary.
He answered his vet was in holiday, and when she return she will write the certificate.
He wanted to know, what I will do with the bills of the vet and I answered him, than before to give him an answer, I would like to know what was happening, and for this I will need the opinion of his vet and my vet.
Discussions start, because he wanted from me an answer about the bills, but I was not sure about what was happening. He told me also, than he payed for the visit of a specialist veterinary.
I also got a mail from the same veterinary who call me the day than puppy arrived to new owner (and than in the phone was telling me the puppy was perfect) telling me than due to the TERRIBLE conditions than had the puppy when arrived, than he had to be recovered in her clinic....
At this point everything start to seems very strange for me.
I wanted more than ever the writting opinion of the vet about what was happening.
Discussion with the owner was following. I was just trying to tell him I need the direct opinion of his vet to try to understand what has happened, he was hungry with me because he said I didn't want to give solutions, but whithout to know the real opinion of his veterinary, I couldn't give him a solution.
At the end, he told me he didn't want to speak with me anymore, and than his lawyers will contact me and I answered giving him all my dates, to make it more easy to his lawyer, because I don't have nothing to cactch, but also telling him than his lawyer to make anything will need also the certificate of the vet.
Finally, I've got the phone call from his veterinary.
The first thing I told her is than I was very surprised about everything because she told saturday moorning than the puppy was perfect, and few days after, she write a mail than the puppy was arrived in terrible conditions. She told me, than the owners didn't go directly to her, and went to his house, make a bath to the puppy and then go to the vet. I asked her I even don't understand, because you don't go to the vet to know if the puppy is clean or dirty, if not if is ill or healthy... and when I spoke with her, in her words (not mines) the puppy arrived PERFECT.
I also make lot of questions and even after the conversation I see thing even less clear.
The specialist who the owner tell me had visited the puppy, was living 400 km away and never see the puppy in life, just see the radiographies (that's very normal beetween professionals, but this time, the owner has had to pay for this, but I don't have very clear, if owner know than the puppy was never visited and than only the rx was sent to the specialist).
Also, speaking about the antibiotics, she told me I had made a mistake sending human antibiotics (even if this antibiotics for humans were recommended for my veterinaries for different things) and when she told me the antibiotics she after prescribed to the puppy, my surprise was than the only difference were the commercial name and the price (5 times more expensives) because composition was exactly the same. At this point, I recommended her to speak with my vets (2 of them are international well know specialist in reproduction, who give lot of courses around europe) about the antibiotics, because for my part, i will not change and I will follow the indications of my vets.
In the telephone she never accepted than she had told than the puppy has leaved ill my house.
Finally, I got the writting certificate, but it was not really a certificate. It was not signed, without the name or number of professional, it was just a paper writed by word, not signed, were it was write than the puppy had a little bit "tos" when visited first time, and then monday the puppy was bring again to the vet.

I invited to the owner to come at home and see the puppies and the rest of my dogs (as you couldn't acuse someone without to had seen), I told him let's try to understand what's happened (something in the transport? exageration of the vet? something the puppy had and the travel make worse?).
In any case I didn't leave the owner without answers. I just tell him let's know what's happened and when we know what's happened then we can find a solution.

Wow Rothorm! The wording in that response was almost as crazy as grazeful1's posts (grazeful, I hope you take that as a joke).

I can't comment on the situation since you both have you own perspective but I respect that you responded with your side of the story.

The wording is not crazy its from a person who's first language is not English, and yes I too have respect for the response and explination. I hope that an understanding is found between the buyer and the breeder and that it is happy and mutual. Im glad the puppy is alive and well and hope it has a long and happy life with its family. Are there photos of the hacked hears and scarred muzzle?

I know there are 2 sides to every story, and not taking sides, but I will say, CAVEAT EMPTOR. When buying a pup, please make sure you visit the home you are getting them from if at all possible. Ask for references, be smart and buy the breeder first and then the pup. Not sure where the buyer lives, and I know many are only in it to make money. Perhaps I would have bought a presa in Spain, but would have went to Italy or the USA for a corso.

Yup I agree with DD and the others.
Montse's first language is NOT English and she articulated her self very well in her post.
I would like to see you write that in Spanish.
I too would like to see pictures of what the OP was referring to as far as ears and scars.
I have seen many of Rothorm's dogs in photo's, (have not yet had the pleasure of meeting one in person) and all her crops look great, dogs well cared for. I know others who have imported without a hitch.
I hope it gets resolved.

Hola Rothorm -

K.
