roll trick

Yay, Hector! He's so cute.

Rolling over is Al's favorite thing to do. He loves working with the clicker and we shaped the roll. When he got it he didn't even wait for a click and treat. He jumped up and raced in ecstatic circles around the room. He knew he'd done it right. Funniest thing ever.

Awesome shaping happening there. I taught Hamlet how to roll over after much grief, but it wasn't something I was good about brushing up, so the poor fellow forgot how.

Bailey's has few tricks, so I'm jealous.. I remember the time you had Hector sit with (I think) a chicken nugget on his nose and then you left the room and told him to hold. Amazing! I don't know how you get him to hold like that, especially where food is involved.

And I also want to acknowledge Siloh. Hi again, friend. The gang is coming home. Yeah!

Once he understood how to learn, then it was not too hard to teach things. I believe you are referring to him leaving a plate of chicken nuggets on the ground in front of him, but he can hold a raw piece of meat, cheeseburger, and hot dog in his mouth.

You should teach Bailey a few tricks to show her off while she makes her therapy visits lol.

All she can do is, sit, lay down, shake paw, paws on chest and speak. She loves rolling in snow and on the carpet, but, I don't know that I could teach her to complete a full roll over. Of course, liver treats speak volumes. Who knows. We use the stay command when we play "Find Mommy." I put her in stay and hide...simple enough, and then I call for her to find me. She loves it, but mostly she loves the treats.

It's all pretty tame compared to what you get Hector to do. But you are a great teacher, and you have so much patience, and, of course, Hector is an apt pupil.

Thanks so much for the nice words!
