  • Welcome back!

We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

Red rocket!

My 15 week male BM Bubba constantly and I mean constantly has his red rocket sticking out. We are first time mastiff owners and never noticed this with our other male dogs (Rotties) in the past. Is this normal. He actually has been humping pillows for a few weeks now on occasion and even humping his sister Bella ( her head, side, or backend). Of course we make noise and stop this as soon as we see it happening, although its not actually him penetrating her when he is behind her. Boy I feel weird talking about this!!!! Anyway whats going on here and is this normal at such a young age and this is the first time we have ever had 2 dogs at the same time.

Neither of my two leave it hanging out much, though my BIL,s mastiff cross often does (he's neutered btw). Though I don't know that its abnormal.

The humping behavior though is often a dominence or "claiming" behavior, so definetly keep working on stopping that.

One of my dogs has his out whenever he sits on his butt (not hip) but the other guy I think I've seen his twice in 1 1/2 years.

From what I have read some dogs just have looser skin there that allows it to slide out easier than other dogs.

Our BM Guinness, 16 weeks old, is pretty much the same way whenever he gets excited. Usually lots of praise and back scratchies might trigger it too. He occasionally will hump his bedding that we leave in the living room. Looks pretty normal to us, he hasn't tried to hump our 7 y/o boxer, Remy, however. I'm pretty sure Remy would give him a thump :)

Same with Smokeycat, pretty much any time Lincoln sits directly on his butt (not hip) out shoots his lipstick. Lincoln also has a Teddy Bear that he's been grabbing and basically humping while laying on his side. No red rocket while he's doing that.

And don,t worry, at least its online and not face to face! When Apollo got a UTI last fall, the vet was trying to show me how to clean Apollo's penis cause he was worried about the amount of 'gunk' (theres a medical term, I forget it) that he thought might be the cause of the UTI. New vet to the practice, young guy probly younger than me. Apollo got a hard-on at the handling and the poor guy went bright red and couldn't speak for a few seconds!

LMAO!!!!!
I had something similar happen with my equine vet and my stallion once! It was hysterical!

BTT: Boris tends to hang his lipstick out when he is sitting directly on his bum, too.

Jadotha, I managed to avoid laughing in his face, but I'm pretty sure he heard me anyway cause as soon as he left the room the tech (female) and I totally cracked up together.

LOL! It is normal in our house and we have had both Rotties and Corsi.

The most embarrassing thing is that my male corso gets so excited when I touch him that it has a certain effect on him that might have the judges either agast or laughing their asses off. Lets just say he will be easy to collect from should the need ever arise :p

Totally normal, but yeah varies from dog to dog ... Oscar's been fixed for a while and he still flies the flag on a regular basis. Like a couple others said, mostly when he's sitting down "human style" but also when he's just plain excited especially car rides and ear scratches.

Lol yeah try having a female EM who likes to sometimes dominate my parent's dogs heads. Doesn't happen very often & the situation is corrected pretty easily but totally weird to see! My little dog will also occasionally hump her bed. I'm like "really Daisy?! That bed isn't going to challenge you!!" lol

I have a female who did this to my cat lol! My male does this to his sister when he thinks she is an ass!

Are you sure... I think the bed gave her a look!

It would be much funnier face to face and probably less weird :D and it's pretty damn funny right now.

I don't see it a lot with Ruger but there is one thing that gets it to shoot completely out everytime...Say "Peanut Butter". I am dead serious....If you say that his rocket shoots out immediately and as soon as you open the PB jar, he starts to salivate BUCKETS!!!

It was quite funny. I've dealt with the same vet a few times since, he's a great guy, his only concern when he found out that I fed raw was that the dogs don't get large animal weight bearing bones, and the dogs love him, even Arty (and thats saying something), but I don't think I'll ever forget that first visit.
