Really worried about Jax...again

No mention of a muscle relaxer, just the prednisone. I had some Rimadyl left over from the last time he was sick with a fever. He had a fever yesterday so I started giving it to him again. I don't know if that's the reason or not, I was just so happy to see some change for the better! I do have a syringe of valium, I thought about using it. It was compounded for him to use at home if he has a cluster of seizures, so I can try to break the cycle before it gets out of control. After valium he has ataxia in his back end terribly. Since he already has ataxia for some reason, I decided not to use it. Today the ataxia seemed worse, he fell just walking through the dining room. :(

Amanda, I am just seeing this thread. I am praying for Jax and you. I can't image the stress and the worry. We're sending loving, healing vibes from New York!

Thanks CeeCee!! @ FM I wish he would listen to that! He is the most high maintenance dog I have ever had...and oh so special! @AB This boy is all about the drama! He is such a character. He has realized that he has a little more room to open his mouth. I just caught him trying to chew on an antler. After that he chased after my son and tried to chomp his like he usually does. Instead he smashed him with his snout, tackled him and then just laid on him. It was so funny! He hasn't played or even tried for at least a week.

I hope he gets better!
Thanks! I just took him out and snapped a few pictures. One picture shows his mouth, what you see in the picture is as far as his mouth will open. He is so determined to eat the damn sticks! He tried and tried until he finally worked one into his mouth. He tried to chew on it but never got through it. He enjoyed himself though, that's all that matters. He was telling me off in most of the pictures...he was over the camera. jax1.jpgjax2.jpgjax3.jpgjax4.jpgjaxmouth.jpg

He is such a handsome boy! Cane has health problems too. It always seems to be 2 giant steps forward and 1 step back, repeat. Hopefully, the next two steps will be leaps forward.

He is the same as yesterday. Still can't open his mouth any more than in the picture above. I am so excited about his appointment tomorrow. I really have a good feeling that this is finally going to be figured out. I have talked to several people who have great things to say about Purdue. I am trying to stay positive and strong for my boy.

I know the wait is excruciating. Is someone going to go with you? I'm sure the wait is going to be a bitch.

I think my mom is going with me. From what my vet said, more than likely I will be leaving him tomorrow and picking him up Wednesday. But just in case, she said not to feed him tonight after midnight. Oh and I forgot to tell you all...his blood work came back and she read some off over the phone, but no specifics. His white blood cell count is high, globulin is high, liver enzymes high (but that could be from the phenobarb) and one of his thyroid levels was normal and another was low. Also they did a chest xray to check for pneumonia caused by aspiration, thinking maybe that was causing his funny little cough...but his xrays looked normal.

@Hector I honestly don't know. Hopefully we will have some answers soon. If its something that I think could help I would try it. @DDB thanks I really appreciate it! Something new just popped up, literally. He is swollen between his eyes, but lower where his muzzle meets his...oh I don't know how to explain it. But its swollen. Looking at his profile, its not squared anymore.
