Rawhide

Poke around this site: bestbullysticks.com

We regularly order: bullysticks (jumbo), antlers, and cows ears. But I'll randomly load up on things like training treats, dried lung and liver, and other goodies. The antlers last the longest (week or two), and I can usually stretch the bullysticks to last a couple of days (of intermittent chewing). The cows ears are obviously pretty quick to go, usually under 20 minutes. But the best prices I've found, especially for bullysticks. Love this site!

I would stay away from rawhide. After a while it's just a huge soggy mess and the dogs will try to swallow it whole. It, inevitably, gets stuck in their throat and you end up having to dive in fist first.

When Mason was small he got tons of pig/cow ears, trachea, hooves, flossies, and bullysticks. When he got bigger and stronger we moved to elk antlers and natural bones. The latter can be purchased pre-stuffed, or you can stuff them at home with things like cream cheese, peanut butter, canned food, etc etc. They last forever.

Before his allergies, I would give him a 36" bullystick a few times a week. It'd be gone in 30 minutes, but he loved them.

Holy smokes, they go through them that fast? I bought probably a 10 inch BullyStick and this thing seems like it'll last a long time. Of course he's pretty tiny compared to some of your dogs.

I got Mason his first bullystick (36") when he was 10-11 weeks old. At that age, he couldn't even make a dent in it. He'd try for a bit, get bored then give up. A couple of months later he went at it again and it was gone in an hour. He eventually got it down to 30-40 minutes.

same thing with Hera with the bullystics no matter how big it is gone in a day now...not very cost effective the antlers last more :)

I once bought a 12" braided bullystick thinking it would pose a real challenge, since it was like 3 sticks in 1. It took Mason like one commercial break to finish it. When people in the street say "Wow, he must cost you a fortune to feed!" I can truthfully say, "Yep, about $1 a minute." :p

I get Bones from my local butcher for $1.00. It has a little raw meat on it but otherwise the butcher would have to through the bones away...they are great and cheap and natural. Also bullie sticks and water bottles in a stuffed animal (dont have to worry about the plastic) and Kong toys

our DDB LOVES deer antlers - However ,I think you have to wait until the dog has lost puppy teeth before they can have the antler - not sure about that. However every dog that comes to our house (we live in the country and have a huge dog so I guess that makes us the dog sitters with our friends!) LOVES LOVES LOVES the deer antlers!!

OMG, I forgot or didn't know that they are pizzel. A lot of people won't feed raw because of the ick factor but they let their dogs play and chew on bull penis:lolbangtable:

^ LOL Angelbears, when I first found out about a bully stick someone had to explain to me what it was, like rocky mountain oysters. :D

I wouldn't mind giving Thor a bully stick but they just give him the runs.........

Yeah, I debated whether to tell my wife what the bully stick really was...but in the end the laugh I got from her reaction was worth it.

I do not use rawhide because I had a dog die from one that got stuck in his stomach and punctured it. Titan will occasionally gnaw on his nylabone. I keep a close eye on the nylabone and when I find a crack, I replace it. He gets most of his bone from his food.

Don't you love the echo's in this forum? I always end up going back to the first post and editing out the duplicate because it annoys me so much.

Water bottles, Galileo Bones, plain white real bones from the co-op, and antlers here. I do give them the little white chewy sticks sometimes. But they tend to just swallow them whole and hork them back up again on my carpet. So I'm not a fan.
